Geographic Information System (GIS) Technician

The Corporation of the Town of Tecumseh is currently recruiting for a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Geographic Information System (GIS) Technician.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Director Information Technology, the GIS Technician will support the ongoing maintenance and dissemination of data and applications in the GIS environment. Reporting to the Director, Information Technology the GIS Technician will work with various municipal departments to ensure that their needs for GIS Information are met on a day to day basis.

Qualifications and Requirements
A 2-year College Diploma in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Sciences, Engineering Technology or equivalent; along with 4-6 years of experience and knowledge with GIS databases and editing using ESRI ArcGIS software is required. Candidates will have a Civil Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technician and Technologist (O.A.C.E.T.T.) designation.

Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD as related to municipal infrastructure mapping is required, as well as 5 years of experience in developing and maintaining GIS data and other GIS output products, including use of ESRI software and Global Positioning System (G.P.S) units for data collection are also required.

Salary
The Town offers a comprehensive benefit package with an hourly rate of $31.07, in accordance with the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 702.2. This position is subject to a probationary period of sixty (60) days of work.
