BRANCH: Marketing, Communications & Partnerships
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week
SALARY RANGE: Start Rate: $24.72/hr. - 3 month: $26.37/hr. - 6 month: $27.47/hr
Basic Function: Reporting to the Marketing Manager, with technical support from Computer & Telecom Services, this position is responsible for overseeing and executing the Toronto Zoo website creative, content management and the integration and support of rich media online and social marketing & media channels (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Blogs etc).
Responsible for the design and day to day maintenance of all Zoo web sites.
Develops, tests, maintains, documents and deploys new web applications.
Develops and presents proposals to promote the use of web technologies and to increase revenue.
Assists with video, picture & story management as well as integration of social marketing & media.
Maintains content libraries of text, illustrations, videos, audio, photos, etc.
Trains other staff to perform delegated updates to web content.
Investigates, identifies, tests and implements technical solutions to meet current and future requirements for the website.
Acts as a resource person on trends and new technologies in website development and advises appropriately.
Assists in the ongoing evaluation of the website and other web devices by producing quantitative performance measures.
Troubleshoots, tests and provides problem resolution support for web issues.
Creates documentation to support business units, including internal system documentaion and end-user documentation.
Administers change control and issue management for applications, including prioritizing and scheduling.
Provides regular statistical reports on key areas of interest relative to the Toronto Zoo website (visitors, most frequently visited pages, etc.)
Other related duties as requested by the Supervisor.
Must possess a diploma in Computer Science or Web Site Technology, or the equivalent amount of experience and training.
Must possess minimum 1 year experience in the same or a similar Web development position
Must have MAC and PC background, as well as proven experience with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Flash and Adobe Dreamweaver.
Must have static HTML & search engine optimization (SEO) skills.
Must have proven interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
Must have demonstrated superb written and verbal communication skills using the English language.
Must be capable of performing the physical demands of the job.
Must be able and willing to work shifts and weekends as required on an on call basis.
Proven experience with website content development, creative design, video production and social media tools (implementation and design).
Be familiar with content generation tools (e.g. MS SQL, MySQL, PostgeSQL etc).
Be familiar with server management ( e.g. Linux & Appache, Microsoft, JSP & Servlets).
Be familiar with Google Analytics or similar programs.
