Station Ambassador (Former Employee) –  Toronto, On15 August 2017
Working with the Toronto Transit was amazing. I got to meet new people and see lots of different tourist who came to Canada especially around the time of the Pan-Am games. Lastly, the management team was wonderful and treated their employees with respect. They always made sure that safety was their number one priority and ensure that we were well hydrate during extreme hot weather. In return of our successful customer service we were guratneed a position every summer as long as we were in school full-time.
Pros
nice pay cheque

A well documented organization
Business Analyst (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON9 August 2017
This organization can tend to be process bound with 'red tape'. It is responsive to its customers' needs. It is a very large organization and can take overly long durations making internal changes.
Pros
Good employee relations
Cons
Overly Process bound

Customer Information Representative (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON28 July 2017
Has great pay and benefits, depending on what department you're in it is hard to advance. Fellow employees are great to work with, make the work environment easier to handle. Management is good and for the most part willing to listen to new ideas or issues anyone may have had. Some managers are difficult and rude.
Pros
Fellow employees are great to work with, able to volunteer for different activities
Cons
computers are really old and slow, phone system extremely old and phones break down every so often.

Good wages & average benefits (gets worse as the years go by)
Transportation Operations (Current Employee) –  Toronto, ON27 July 2017
Company still working with old technology and terrible people skills especially the management to upper management staff. The company does not understand the importance or work / life balance and still create many of their own issues with scheduling, terrible management practices and mis-management of funds.

TTC not built to handle the volume of population growth that it is now. Many improvements still needed in transportation, station and security upgrades.

You need to change all of it and leave out the political obstructions.
Pros
wages & benefits (pension if is remains for the future)
Cons
Long hours, no work life balance until 15+ years or over, poor management practices (threatening, intimidation, very little flexibility to help anyone other than themselves), huge sacrifices with social life & family life, uncertainty with securing jobs now & for the future

This is a "good" job if you want security, benefits and the ability to chose your own days off and hours. The most difficult part of the job is adjusting your life around the shifts.

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Toronto19 June 2017
This job was through an agency so it is not a review of the TTC. However it was a physically and mentally difficult job. You are expected to do this job through the winter (standing outside in -20 degree conditions). Briefing of rerouting of the transport systems are not done properly.

Front Line Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Toronto, ON6 May 2017
Heavy preference towards "experienced" employees. It doesn't make sense that they would hire new people, if they don't intend to give them hours. This is very frustrating but the job itself is very self-explanatory.
Pros
Good pay, responsive staff
Cons
Long Hours, Unreliable shift scheduling, Not for someone looking for consistent work
