A private Toronto-based boutique Investment Bank with focus on natural resources is seeking an Analyst to join its Corporate Finance Group. We’re focused on financing and M&A of small and mid-cap companies in the natural resource space, predominantly in oil and gas. An Analyst will play an integral role in assisting with originating, structuring, negotiating and executing deals, and will have an opportunity to gain exposure to a wide variety of financial transactions. This is an excellent opportunity for those with some previous experience in capital markets, wishing to join a rapidly growing entrepreneurial organization. An Analyst will assume a high degree of responsibility for project management and developing client relationships.

- Assume primary responsibility for building and maintaining complex financial models
- Developing an in-depth understanding of specific industry segments in order to understand the key valuation drivers and establish coverage universe
- Preparation of marketing materials including, presentations, term sheets, offering memoranda, etc
- Conducting extensive due diligence on the industry and the companies to assist in transaction execution
- Assisting VPs and the MDs in managing relationships with current and prospective clients
- Participate in various industry events to foster networking and deal generation

Desired Skills and Experiences:
- Undergraduate University Degree in business or business-related discipline
- 1 – 2 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, investment management or management consulting
- Previous experience in mining or oil and gas is strongly preferred
- Exceptional financial modelling skills
- Proficiency in MS Office suite products – advanced knowledge of Excel is a must
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills and ability to think critically
- Sound verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail is a must
- Superior communication and team work skills
- Knowledge of financial research tools (Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Reuters) is an asset
- Ability to quickly get up the learning curve and be able to manage competing priorities
