Canvasser (Former Employee) – Ottawa, ON – 30 September 2012
Basically your whole job is trying to guilt people into sponsoring a child. NO ONE wants to do it. Everyone hates door-to-door people. You have to guilt them into it and it feels bad even when you do make a deal. If you're the type of person who doesn't mind screwing with people, lying to them, manipulating and guilting them into buying this, then you could do good at this job. You also have to manage to convince yourself that it's for a good cause. Which is hard to do if you're a skeptical person like me.
And the environment at the office is Cult-like. They all sing songs and chants, and nothing negative is ever said. If you ask any questions they will just dodge them. You have to lie to yourself and pretend you're doing actual good work. its pathetic.
It's funny, they are hiring EVERY SINGLE DAY. i only worked there for a month, and EVERY DAY i worked there were new people. Most new people lasted 1-3 days at most. They have a lady hired to just call people and set up interviews. I dunno how they are still in Ottawa, you'd think they would run out of people to hire LOL.
I only recommend taking this if you are desperate for money, they will fire you in 5 days if you don't make any deals.
hours are 12:30-9:00, so you have time in the morning to apply for other jobs.
long hours, cult-like environment, impossible quota, very shady company
Relaxed and fun working environment; friendly and hard working employees
Telemarketing (Former Employee) – Ottawa, ON – 9 May 2012
A typical working day at Top Notch would be as follows: Walk in to the office at 12:30 pm and begin to practice our pitches with fellow employees. This practice would go on until 1:30 pm. At 1:30, our boss/team leader, has a 15 min meeting about with u the employess, about the day ahead, and our goals to reach for the day. We then leave to our various and different locations, that we will be at, marketing for the day. Our day outdoors commences at 2:30 and finishe's at 9:00pm. At 9:00pm, the employess then meet back at the office to recap on the day's work and sign out. The most enjoyable part of the job was the oppurtunity to be outdoors on beautiful days and work with a great staff. The downside to the job were the long hours that were involved,.
