Engraver
Engraver (Current Employee), Cambridge, ONNovember 21, 2012
I would come in and make sure that all the engravings where done that need to be done.
I would then catch everyone up on orders and work the engraver all day along with organize the engravings that are done.
I would then close the store at the end of the day and go home.

All over the place
Store Manager (Former Employee), New YorkJuly 14, 2014
The company has designed a number of expectations that contradict themselves. They have a process of conversion selling that works for slower stores, but is absolutely non-functional in busier locations. A typical work day includes 18 hours of work expected to be completed perfectly with in 8 hours, and if you over spend 1 single minute in payroll, – more... you will be threatened with a write-up. The work itself is fun. The company itself is a disaster. The corporate offices have no clue what they are doing and could care less if they screw up a customer order or management order that reflects in sales and P&L goals that the store is responsible for meeting. The company needs to "grow up" and recognize they are ruining themselves. Their turn-over rate is incredible due to their failure to operate a functional business outside of robbing ignorant people of their money. – less

Fun place to work to help people remember their special events
Key Holder/Assistant Manager (Former Employee), Daytona Beach, FLJune 24, 2014
If you like to make people's day by personalizing items with cute phrases or names and birth dates, then this is the place for you. I consider this one of the best retail companies to work for as far as day-to-day operations. You get to engrave glass, metal, plastic. The only negative thing about working for this company is that it is very hard to advance, – more... based on my own personal experience. – less

Assistant Manager (Former Employee), Johnson CityJune 22, 2014
Pros: learned to engrave
Cons: management & company culture
I enjoyed learning how to engrave...that is the only positive thing about working for this company. Management left me alone to work the busiest part of the year after only a week of training and acted like anything I did not understand was my fault. The paperwork is just nutso-out-of-control complicated. The manager wanted my cell phone number just – more... so she could text me my sales goals each day whether I was working or not. I understand this is retail and they are all about making money but the culture of this company is just awful. The little bit of money they pay is so not worth the hassle. I was so glad to get out of there and took a job making half as much just to get away. – less

Excellent Job
Assistant Manager (Former Employee), Portland, ORJune 18, 2014
Things Remembered was a great job to have. A typical day was always having a new experience. There was always something to keep busy doing. I learned a lot from this job as in Being more outgoing, starting conversations with customers, how to sell to people that weren't going to buy in the first place. I learned how to engrave items, and train new employees. – more... I learned how to make schedules and juggle the store employees. The hardest part of this job was the unset schedule, the hours you worked a week were always different and so were the times. – less

Life in a Mall Kiosk
Assistant Manager (Former Employee), Wilmington, NCJune 12, 2014
Pros: job satisfaction from making customers happy
Cons: working at a mall kiosk
Working in the store itself was not too bad, however we were often at odds with mall management. Our parent company had a specific brand appearance, while the mall's parent company had its own guidelines for how stores should look. This made for a work environment that could be unpleasant at times.
Additionally, our parent company only ever allowed – more... for single coverage in the store. In order to take federally mandated breaks, or even go to the restroom, one had to leave the store unattended. Leaving the store unattended resulted in citations from mall security.
The situation wasn't great.
As for the actual work in the store, it was your basic customer service experience. In addition to sales, we also provided personalization services - that was the part I enjoyed most. – less
