Engraver
Engraver (Current Employee), Cambridge, ONNovember 21, 2012
I would come in and make sure that all the engravings where done that need to be done.
I would then catch everyone up on orders and work the engraver all day along with organize the engravings that are done.
I would then close the store at the end of the day and go home.

Fun Place to work
Cashier (Former Employee), huntington station, new yorkOctober 21, 2014
Pros: working with enjoyable people
Cons: not having a designated area to eat lunch.
A typical day at work consist of walking around, straightening the floor and helping customers find the perfect item for their specified occasion. i learned how to use an engraving machine. The managers were amazing. they were understanding and had no problem helping me or better explaining something i didn't quite understand. My co-workers were funny, – more... and also hard working. The hardest part of my job was working around the holidays when it was hectic and out of control. The most enjoyable part of my job was working with the customers and making sure they're happy and satisfied with their purchase. – less

Things Remembered-Store Manager
Store Manager (Former Employee), MassachusettsOctober 14, 2014
Pros: fun to engrave and customer service
Cons: poor leadership of upper management
While the job itself (engraving and sales) is fun, the pace is extremely slow other than Christmas time. Managers work a majority of shifts, and upper management requires a high number of associates that you can never give hours to because hours are so small. It takes a long time to train a good associate and by time they are trained and you say "sorry – more... no hours" they end up leaving and management is stuck working doubles a majority of times. The district manager is lazy and demanding, only coming around or talking to you when something is going wrong in your store, never any positive reinforcement. Unless you walk in at management level DO NOT expect to be promoted! – less

day at work
Sales Associate / Cashier / Engraver (Former Employee), newburgh nyOctober 2, 2014
Cons: temp
Make sure sales floor is clean & tidy enough for customers to shop, greeting every customer that walks into the store, taking the engraving order with specific details, leaving store ready for the next day, unpacking new merchandise and placing on sales floor following floor plan-o-gram
checking order was accurately summed up, offering Store rewards – more... club card, getting customers email address to send special offers, entering all of the correct info into the register to finish sale, finish transaction and giving estimated time on order completion and pick up time, counting drawer at end of day, writing up daily being/end of day sales report, making the end of day bank deposit
Engraving- double checking spelling in order before engraving, setting up engraving machine to correct sizing of merchandise being engraved, accurately placing item in machine and computer to being engraving, polish end result and box up nicely for pick-up – less

Sales Associate and Engraver (Former Employee), Voorhees, NJOctober 1, 2014
The store manager would leave everything to the assistant manager, and I mean everything. To help the assistant manager, I would do assistant manager duties, while not being paid for it.

Engraver/Keyholder (Former Employee), White Plains, NYSeptember 24, 2014
Pros: not applicable
Cons: to many to list
Not all the stores are the same, but this one really sucks. I work there for about 7 months, and within that time I had about 4 different managers. It was the worst job. I couldn't list all the problems, but the biggest was they worked you like a horse and didn't want pay you a proper wage.

Sales Associate/Seasonal (Former Employee), Clinton Twp, MichiganSeptember 19, 2014
Pros: nice customers
Cons: no breaks or lunches
Initially I thought that working at Thing Remembered was going to be a great job that would eventually lead into a career. This was an illusion because after a month I was offered a promotion and then let go for absolutely no reason. There are no scheduled breaks or lunches. Store managers and associates walking out and quitting. Extremely unorganized, – more... under trained and short staffed. Very unprofessional place to work. – less
