Role:

Assist with network infrastructure management. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communications links.

Responsibilities:

 Ensure the stable operation of the computer systems, and peripherals.
 Assist with Maintaining, configuring and upgrading network infrastructures.
 Assist with the administration and the maintenance of the telephone system, including mobile devices.
 Provide technical support to the end users in a timely and accurate fashion.
 Assist in supporting corporate applications, servers, desktops, and remote users.
 Assist with basic troubleshooting, backup, and archiving
 Ensuring data security and integrity.

Job Duties:

 Administration and maintenance of the IT infrastructure.
 Maintain and monitor external connectivity’s.
 Maintain the supply of the hardware replacement parts and consumables.
 Upgrades and renew software licenses.
 Remain current in new software advances and evaluate these software solutions to determine their suitability for TDE.
 Administration and configuration of the phone system.
 Keep all employees informed of changes and if necessary train them for a new system.

Other Duties:

 Provide assistance as required for project related tasks.

Skills & Knowledge:

 Extensive operating systems including Windows and Unix.
 Good understanding of TCP/IP and IP routing.
 Experience with engineering software is an asset.
 Experience with Cad software is an asset
 Telephone systems operation knowledge, including VoIP.
 SQL and Visual Basic is an asset

Education & Experience:

 Technical diploma in Computer Networking.
 Minimum of 3 years experience working with Novell Netware 6, Open Suse Enterprise, and Microsoft Windows Server (2003 & 2008).
 Experience supporting a network with a minimum of 50 users.

Working Conditions:

Requires a considerable amount of interaction with staff members across all departments and as such good communication skills are very important. Provides support for all hardware, software and networking issues, which necessitates excellent problem solving skills as well as good stress management. The ability to multitask and prioritize is necessary.

The hazard rating for this job would be medium risk due to the necessity of being hands on with many electrical devices. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for supporting systems in three locations, which will involve driving between locations. The incumbent is responsible for being aware of the safety policy as well as the safety rules and regulations. As such any non-compliance to these rules or regulations will be met with disciplinary actions. It is the incumbents’ responsibility to act with due care and attention to safety at all times.
