The Tyee (http://thetyee.ca) is in the enviable position that its readers are a quickly growing part of our revenue mix. We call them our Builders, and we couldn't do it without them.
(For example, over just 21 days in the fall of 2013, our readers contributed over $100,000 to help us do more national reporting.)
The director of community development will stay engaged with our current Builders, and oversee strategies to grow the community.
The director of community development will also plan events including our Master Classes, which contribute resources that help sustain our operations and pay our talented writers.
You will work with director of publishing and advertising Michelle Hoar, founding editor David Beers and the wider team in developing creative and entrepreneurial long-term strategies for growing The Tyee as a sustainable independent online publication.
We are particularly seeking candidates with:
- Demonstrated experience with fundraising and member relations
- Strong understanding of online campaigning strategies
- Excellent writing and communications skills
- Experience in planning and managing small to medium sized events
Position is full time, Vancouver-based.
Compensation depends on experience. Please send cover letter and CV, and include in subject line the words: community development position.
