Director, Operations and Support

We’re looking for an experienced Support Team Lead to join our Toronto based team. The Operations and Support Director will be responsible for supporting, engaging and developing a team of volunteers relating to the areas of volunteer coordination, fundraising, marketing and finance. As a seasoned professional with knowledge of the not for profit industry you will bring expertise and the ability to drive change in a rapidly growing start-up organization.

Key Accountabilities:
Fundraising and Communications: Support the Executive Director and Fundraising team members in the development, pursuit, and stewardship of a diverse donor base including individual contributions, major donors, and foundation and government grants, working collaboratively with other areas such as communications to execute the fundraising platform.
Apply your experience with the grant seeking process to monitor and provide guidance to the Grant Writing Team
Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
Liaise with key internal stakeholders to ensure cross-functional resource deployment

Program Development: Support volunteers and board members in the ongoing operations of the organization and special projects as needed.
Act as a strategic partner among the senior team to ensure that Support Team goals are developed and executed
Connect and actively follow-up with Support Team Members to ensure effective day to day operations
Assist with the evaluation and reporting for the Support Team divisions to the Executive Director
Oversee, in an advisory capacity, an increasingly complex special events program

Operations Administration: Develop and engage a team of volunteers and the larger community.
Engage and develop relationships with other NGO’s in related industries
Maintain knowledge of industry standards and norms
The ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of volunteers – including remote volunteers
Participate in volunteer meetings to provide advice and other support as necessary
Execute other duties as required
Organize and facilitate logistical arrangements for all project activities

The ideal candidate has:
Post-secondary education in volunteer management or related field or equivalent experience.
Experience with grant writing
Through knowledge of the fundraising industry and best practices is a very strong asset
Experience in volunteer management
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Adaptable and flexible individual with a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities.

Organized, efficient, detail-oriented, quick learner.
Professional and articulate with excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills.
Experience with finance and budgeting an asset.

Other information:
This position requires a commitment of up to 10 hours per week. As this role is a cornerstone position within the organization, frequent communication and quick response time is imperative. We are seeking an individual who is able to respond to inquiries within 48 hours
