  • Recruiting, equipping, encouraging and mentoring volunteers for youth and children’s ministry with strategies and programs to achieve our mission
  • Ensuring discipleship and pastoral care for youth, including effective follow up of spiritual decisions and personal visitation
  • Oversee youth worship gathering, and Senior and Junior youth groups
  • Developing and accessing the effectiveness of all youth and children’s programs, with recommendations for change
  • Involving and preparing youth in ministry within the Corps and community (i.e. through Community & Family Services, Community Care Ministries)
  • Leading/coordinating Youth Ministry Team meetings to maintain and enhance the effectiveness of youth ministry, and to provide support and team-building for workers.
  • Participating as a member of the Corps Leadership Team
  • Participate in the preparation of annual reviews, and statistical reporting
  • Complete a work log for each month and submit to the Corps Officers
  • Creating and implementing an outreach and discipleship plan to address the social, physical and spiritual needs of community youth, integrating them with church youth/church life whenever possible
  • Following up on appropriate referrals from Community and Family Services ministries


  • Possess a burning spiritual passion for young people and a love for the church
  • Be mature and well-grounded in the Christian faith - knowing and exercising your spiritual gifts
  • Related degree or diploma or equivalent job experience
  • Three years of demonstrated successful involvement in working with church youth
  • High standard of integrity, judgment and confidentiality
  • Highly creative, organized, and self-motivated
  • Possess an extensive knowledge of the emerging generation and the post-modern culture
  • In agreement with and committed to the doctrines of The Salvation Army, and understands and commits to the mission and the purpose of The Salvation Army Kingston Citadel Corps
  • Willing to be a member of The Salvation Army Kingston Citadel Corps
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to plan and facilitate meetings
  • Possess computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Possess a valid Ontario drivers G license and have access to a reliable vehicle

HOURS: Full time 30 hours per week
