Merchandiser (Current Employee), Various Edmonton storesApril 30, 2013
Pros: i make my own work schedule
Cons: pay is low
I am in charge of merchandising a number of stores within a limited time frame. I have maintained excellent organizational skills and time management skills with this job. I work independently, but will consult store managers about special promotions or special placements of products when necessary.

Always under scrutiny, not understanding to personal issues, does not follow their own company guidelines. Canada creates the perfects the processes, and they then send the automated work to the states.

Merchandiser (Current Employee), Arlington, TXJanuary 14, 2014
Pros: monday thru friday only
Cons: limited amount of work hours
You have to be very active and meet the customer's expectations everyday. Build a relationship to demonstrate job knowledge.
The hardest part is that you are given a certain amount of time to work your stores and sometimes that's difficult to comply. The most enjoyable is that you work flexible hours.

The News Group and how they treat their merchandisers
Merchandiser (Current Employee), Granada Hills, CAJanuary 2, 2014
Pros: wish i could say something positive, but i would be lying
Cons: management very laxed does not follow up on problems in stores, simply ignores the issues.
When hired they started at a certain salary, and instead of giving
you the incentive of a raise and appreciation of the work, they
reduced all merchandisers salaries by a certain percentage.
This is just a part time job for me as I am retired, but I have owned
my own business and even when times were bad I never lowered
an employee's pay.

Great co-workers and boss makes an easy and productive workplace
Route Driver Salesperson (Former Employee), Harahan, LASeptember 11, 2013
Pros: got to take the truck home, hours were very managable
Cons: benefits weren't great, trucks that delivered our product to us were sometimes late
As i gained more experience with customer service and driving, i also had fun doing it. Whenever you needed help at a store or if you fell behind due to traffic or whatever, my boss, co-workers, or myself were always there to help each other. The hardest thing here was the my route was all over the place from one end of the city to the other. The best, – more... were the customers i grew to become friends with. – less

Merchandiser (Current Employee), Hampton Roads, VAAugust 26, 2013
Pros: free magazines perks
Cons: no benefits
Start as early as 6am and end as late as 6pm. I learned the time it takes and how much paying attention to details really means on this job. A whole lot of time management involved. I learned how to read a plan-o-gram, and how inventory is very important to each store serviced. The hardest part was knowing that this position was the lowest in the company – more... you could go and after 2 years no pay raise at all for good performance. But I did like the experience of meeting diverse people and growing from all Iearned. – less

Unorganized multinational company. Leaders do not utilize the skills of employees. It is a regular 7a-6p position and there is plenty to do and learn.

unorganized and unsettled place to work
Merchandiser (Former Employee), Grand Prairie, TXSeptember 20, 2012
On a typical week they want you to do a certain days job in a calculated amount of time. They track your progress with a gps table to make sure you are where you are suppose to be. As a merchandiser you have to wait till your product is delivered to began your job, the better driver you have assigned to your route the better and sooner you can start – more... your day. The best part on the job is working alone and being responsible for finishing your part. The worst part of it is management is constantly changing things and want it done their specific ways which don't always make sense. – less

Pros: trael points and meeting new peopl
Cons: the extensive travel away from my family
I traveled the US touring airport gift shops we supplied readables too.
I meet with regional VP's to go over any issues needing addressed. I also negotiated contracts when current contracts were close to their end of life.
