Publicity & Events Coordinator
Responsibilities:
- Coordination of chapter’s yearly fundraising and awareness events from start through implementation to post-event duties. This includes timelines, budget tracking to achieve targeted financial goals, providing administrative support to the volunteer committee, creation of sponsorship packages, logistical aspects such as venue and supplier arrangements, procurement of insurance and permits, volunteer recruitment, onsite needs etc.
- assist in developing and provide support to the development of new initiatives and projects as proposed by the Board of Directors or mandated by the Branch office
- identify and develop new opportunities within an existing event or as an entirely new fundraising opportunity, including the submission of third party applications
- provide support to other projects and campaigns ongoing in the chapter
- nurture relationships with sponsors, volunteers, donors and other stakeholders
- provide feedback during the annual budgeting process
- committee and volunteer development
For merchandising portfolio:
- Monitor and support a centralized merchandising system, allowing all Chapters the capacity to order consistently-branded products
- Assist in managing a complementary system for internal merchandise such as volunteer recognition materials in consultation with employee and volunteer leadership
- Explore opportunities to develop a variety of marketing/promotional materials which promote the Kidney Foundation brand at the provincial and community level

Experience in:
- event planning and execution including administering committee meetings and ownership of all logistics associated with an event
- developing and implementing marketing and promotional strategies to raise funds, awareness and participation in special events including the creation of promotional materials, working with media on sponsorships for events, acting as spokesperson on-site at events or being available for interviews prior to events
- volunteer recruitment and stewardship

Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in communications or a related field
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience
- Exceptional writing and communication skills
- Strong planning, project management and time management skills
- Proficiency in MS office and Outlook Express
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge an asset
- Must be flexible to work some evenings and weekends as related to fundraising events and meetings

Anticipated start date: March 1st, 2013
Term: Seven month maternity leave contract
