JUNIOR PAYROLL COORDINATOR
(This is a 3 – 6 MONTH CONTRACT with possibilities of leading to permanent staff position)

Our client is in the resource development sector of the oil sands industry .Their corporate philosophy revolves around the entrenchment of the sustainable resource development within the traditional lands of aboriginal people.

Our client is currently seeking a Junior Payroll Coordinator for their Edmonton office. The successful candidate will be able to switch priorities in order to support the functions of the office as necessary. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Proficient in all aspects of Timecard Entry & Verification
  • Proficient with completing ROE’s (Record of Employment)
  • Strong Filing working knowledge
  • Assist with breaking payroll
  • Log incoming payroll submissions in accordance with office procedure
  • Proficient with office phone systems and usage
  • Proficient knowledge and utilization of payroll database systems, should be familiar with applicable programs: invoice, batch, timecard editor and reports, timecard verification
  • Maintaining accurate and acceptable payroll & start form files on each employee/contractor in accordance with company policy and procedure
  • Help maintain the employee and contractor relationship
  • Assist the payroll coordinators in entering employee stars and verifying ROE’s
  • Administers direct deposit transactions in accordance with office procedures
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 – 5 years’ experience working in a payroll environment
  • Payroll certification preferred however will consider equivalent education and experience
  • Oil/Gas or Construction payroll experience preferred but not mandatory
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to work towards team and individual goals
  • Must exhibit sense of urgency with regard to employee requests and questions
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent PC skills
  • Flexibility to shift priorities as needed
  • Understanding of and commitment to maintaining current knowledge of industry trends, concepts, products, practices and financial arrangements
