Licensed Insurance Representative (Former Employee) –  Mississauga, ON7 November 2017
Incredible environment to work in. I really enjoyed my time here. The executives and leadership in this company foster an open and creative environment for young people to thrive. They also really care about the development of their staff.

Best employer I've ever had
Associate Financial Advisor (Current Employee) –  Various3 November 2017
Great company offers a great work life balance, decent pay and when you get into commissions it can be excellent. Great managers overall, great co-workers in all departments. I have concerns and don't like the way certain things are done, but they listen and things get changed when its a common theme, so I'm not complaining about any of those things.
Pros
great place
Cons
pay could be better

Communications (Former Employee) –  Guelph, ON23 October 2017
This co-op is starting to feel more like a bank run company then a true co-op as people are now taking a back seat to profits. Many have been let go due to new technology or restructuring.

Negative Environment
Acquisition Services Representative (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB5 October 2017
A very deceiving environment to work. They start employees on contract so that they can minimize, salary, hours and benefits.

Training is poorly administered and impersonal. Sometimes the training is poor because the project is new and hasn't been done before or often.

Management allows for internal whistle blowing for petty things which makes for a negative and uncomfortable work environment. Very high turnover as evidence of the aforementioned.

Invasion of breaks for meetings.

Poor people management skills.
Pros
Great benefits and work/life balance
Cons
Poor training, Negative work environment, Poor management

Typical Day
Associate (Former Employee) –  Moncton, NB17 August 2017
Multi tasking was the most important part of the day and dealing with prorities. Customer service was the first in the daily events. Dealing in the insurance world you needed to take care of the clients best interst, and dealing with delicate issues. I love the customer interaction and problem solving, gaining there trust and respect. Of course there was always the sales aspect with building the book of business and upselling/cross selling whenever possible. Knowing how to juggle the walk in business as well as keeping up with the incoming phone calls and replying promptly to the e-mails.
Pros
training
Cons
advancement

Overall good company
Insurance Advisor (Current Employee) –  Multiple Locations5 August 2016
Overall it's a good place to work, with good training. The main focus however is on life insurance and investments with complete disregard for all other stats. It's actually a very greed focused set up and if you don't play the political game they don't have need for you. If you focus on helping people you will enjoy it more than if you focus on selling to people.
Pros
Full benefits, bankers hours no weekends
Cons
Micro-management, pay is low compared to other companies

Financial Planner
Financial Planner (Current Employee) –  Guelph, ON17 March 2016
typical day is 10-12 hours. you make your own appointments in order to make sales so it is important to fill your pipeline and pivot to next appointment to make next sale. Each day is something different so you never get board, i love that! in this type of job you can not sit back and wait for business to walk through the door, you have to be proactive and network or make cold calls. i don't like cold calling so i am out and about the community introducing myself and connecting one on one. It is all about helping people and offering the best solutions for them.
Pros
Love what i do
Cons
Long hours
