Great Work Place With Fun Enviroment
Sales Associate (Current Employee), Vaughan, OntarioMarch 24, 2014
A day at work consists of getting the store up and ready for the day. This includes refilling the floor with merchandise, making sure that all displays are set up properly as well as making sure that store is clean. We prepare by going over the sales and goals of the day to ensure that we can satisfy each and every customer that walks through the door.

The – more... management is strict, but that is that strict management that helps keep the store at the top of it's game. – less

A great place to work!
Quality product at competitive prices.
The best part of the day is when I see my customers leaving the store with a happy smile on their face because they found exactly what they were looking for and at a great price.

Stock Supervisor (Former Employee), ottawa, ontarioJanuary 13, 2014
Pros: good customers, positive attitudes all around
Cons: lots of last minute corporate changes, high workload with low staff
A typical day of work usually involved balancing a high workload with low hours and limited staff.

I learned a lot about managing my team effectively to get all necessary jobs done, how to delegate tasks effectively, and how to learn which team members would be best suited to which task.

Store-level management was always good, though upper-level corporate – more... management could be difficult to deal with at times.

The hardest part of the job was the frequent lack of resources such as payroll, so we were almost always working with a skeleton crew, regardless of the number of available and skilled employees.

The most enjoyable part of the job was the general positive attitude, and the customer base was very good. – less

Pros: meeting new people
Cons: the hours
Basic duties for me at this company was greet customers, inventory, and stock. I wasn't employed there long due to my lack of training.

The management was under new management at the time of my employment.

The hardest part of the job was inventory.
The most enjoyable part was meeting and greeting customers.

This retail job has taught me some of the – more... typical duties in a retail business. – less

Sales Associate (Former Employee), Woodbridge, OntarioNovember 1, 2013
Cons: long hours, after close can vary from 15 mins until 2 hours before you can go home
-drive sales and persuade customers to make purchases
-learn how to be a helpful teammate, learn about customers needs
-management was mediocre, every business has their issues
-great co-workers, didn't have a strong issue, but their are a few minor things that can be fixed,(no one is perfect)
-hardest part about the job is trying to persuade because – more... there are some customers that are extremely cheap and will not spend
-most enjoyable part about the job is talking to customers and seeking out their needs and trying to find or accommodate – less

Basic teenage job
Sales Associate / Customer Service / Stock / Cash (Former Employee), West Island, MontrealJuly 4, 2013
Pros: flexible hours, good co-workers, helping customers with outfits
Cons: folding clothes
In most of jobs, I learned a lot about customer service, especially in this job because I dealt with them head on every single shift. That's basically the job description. I had to deal with a lot of unhappy customers (not having certain sizes or colours of clothing). I also dealt with a lot of undecided customers in which I had to help them shop and – more... make outfits. I really enjoyed that part because I love children's clothing and dressing babies.
I also did stock in the back when big orders came in, and was on cash when needed. The warehouse required a lot of manual labour but this wasn't daily.
The hours were flexible as well, and I loved everyone I worked with. My manager was sad to see me go.

The only thing I really, really did not enjoy was constantly folding clothes. I'm pretty sure a children's store is the worst kind of store because of all the kids that come running around, unfolding shirts, unhooking hangers, stockings, shoes. I swear it was as if there was a hurricane that passed through there every day. It became too long and tedious for me. My shift would finish at 9 but some nights I've stayed until 10:30-11pm folding clothes because it was so messy. – less

Fun, easy going, energetic, caring atomosphere
Cashier and customer service (Current Employee), Vernon, BCMay 29, 2013
Pros: no drama
Cons: not enough hours
I love working for this company, the atomosphere is really calm and easy to work in. I have learned a lot of customer service skills and about different clothing styles. My co-workers are all great to work with and I get along well with all of them. The hardest part of the job would be there isn't always a lot of hours which can be stressful money wise. – more... The best part of the job is that there is no drama which makes coming to work enjoyable. – less

Cons: low pay, no raises, inconsistant hours
My experience with The Children's Place was very disappointing. From a management team that played favourites to lack of ability to grow within the company to no raises based on company performance.
