Friendly workplace, I live on site which is a major plus since i can multitask taking care of both, needs of my home and my business simultaneously
Office Manager (Current Employee), Orange, TXOctober 16, 2014
Pros: long lunches at my home
Cons: customers always expect that you are there any and all times of day and night
My typical workday starts out around 8:45 a.m. at this time i go outside and check all the boats and adjust their height depending on the tide (or the level of the water) then i check the tenants payment logs and record their check information and make copies of said checks, I also check all lifts monthly and grease the machinery in all the appropriate – more... areas. A deposit slip is completed once a month and all tenant checks are deposited into the business account., – less

Good environment to learn how to handle stress with a smile on, bad management style overall
Server (Current Employee), St. Louis, MOAugust 28, 2014
Pros: guaranteed good business nearly every night
Cons: bad management style
Good business throughout the summer. There was a rush of customers nearly every night from a local musical venue in the area. This tested my ability to handle a large amount of tasks while still providing service to guests, and I learned a lot about myself during this short period of time working here. The management is new and very shaky. They have – more... not gained a lot of trust from the employees, and makes it a tense work environment. This is definitely the hardest part of this job. Business has slowed down a considerable amount in the last few weeks and I've really gotten a chance to work on my serving skills and really get to know my managers and why things aren't working with their management style. I love my coworkers at this restaurant and I love talking with guests about the food and what their plans are for the day! – less

The Boathouse
Bar Staff (Former Employee), DurhamApril 7, 2014
Pros: management
Cons: advancement withing the buisness
Boathouse is an amazing place to work the atmosphere and the customers aswell as the management team and the staff make it an amazing place to work. They were flexible and helpfull and management always tryed to help you out whatever the circumstance. Highly recommended place to work.

It created my passion for work in customer service no matter what – more... part of the industry it is in.

I would say the most hardest part is the weekend rush but as long as you can keep a positive head and feed of the atmosphere then it is not all that bad. – less

Fun and eventful job
Sunday Park, Hostess (Former Employee), Midlothian, VAJuly 8, 2013
Pros: enjoyed working events and meeting new people
Cons: did not receive any type of breaks when working longer shifts
I was a hostess at the boathouse a few years ago. I answered telephones, recorded reservations, worked many of the wedding events and escorted families to their table when ready. The hardest part of the job was learning the restaurant and where everything was at but thoroughly enjoyed working the private parties on the weekends.

Fun working environment
volunteer (Former Employee), Danson ParkMay 18, 2013
Pros: free dinners
Cons: no transportation
On a typical day, I helped with the setup at the venue for a wedding breakfast and it was a nice experience. The clients provided the set up plan layout and then the team and I brought it into reality. At the end, the room looked very welcoming and beautiful and the wedding couple and their guest all liked what they saw.
During my experience at the – more... Boathouse, I learnt how the wedding planner consults with the clients and how to proceed by contacting suppliers and the team about the coming event and what needs to be done, how many staff needed for the occasion which depends normally on the size of the event.
The Boathouse have a good management where everyone works as a team
My co -workers are very nice people and willing to explain things to me .
the hardest part of the job is when the is lack of communication and as a new person, it was hard to keep up at the beginning
The most enjoyable part of the job is by welcoming and fulfilling each client dreams to their expectations and seeing then happy of the services that are provided to them – less

A fast-paced, busy and high-end restaurant environment
Host Manager/Administrative Assistant (Current Employee), Richmond, VAApril 19, 2013
Pros: family atmosphere, great pay, good management, small business
Cons: rude clientele, long hours, no week-ends off
I have worked at The Boathouse for close to four years. It's incredibly fast-paced and steady throughout the year. I was a hostess/admin. assistant and the hours were never sparse, the management is amazing and it was a very important job to have. I have always felt like a part of "The Boathouse Family" and was comfortable within the restaurant with – more... the people I worked with. The hardest part of my job was the clientele. The customer base consists of your regular restaurants diners, but with a serious attitude. I am proficient in customer service, and I have never encountered the kind of entitled, rude and demanding guests that this restaurant caters to. However, the setting is beautiful and the food is amazing. I think it is a great place to work, especially if you have thick skin. – less

Cons: travelling to stonehaven to work
my typical day is preparing and setting up for service, i have learned that customers value you as an individual when you get praise and comments about how good the food is .management consists of the owner who is friendly outgoing and trusts his staff.my co -workers are friendly and down to earth.the hardest part of my job is probably making sure The – more... Boathouse runs perfectly when i am on shift. the most rewarding part of my day is making sure the customers have enjoyed the food and that you get the recognition that is very rewarding – less
