A great place to have food and drinks for ever occasion also is open 365 days of the year
Kitchen Manager (Current Employee) – Corpus Christi, TX – 24 January 2017
The boathouse has multi-level dining areas. The first level caters to families and has a restaurant dining feel to it. The second level has a sports bar feel to it with multiple TVs pool tables and foosball table with a jukebox and a mini stage for bands that we book from time to time. The outside also has a bar with a seating area and next to a canal that offers a great View as well as a great Beach atmosphere.
As a new business i have the privilege to create new entrees as well as new menus.
The boathouse dose not offer health insurance at this time.
Bartender/Waitress (Former Employee) – Putney, Greater London – 3 January 2017
I started working as a part-timer and within 2 weeks I went from doing 30 hours a week to 60-70 hours a week. The days could be long as during the weekdays you was by yourself serving all the customers, if you did a double shift you was by yourself all day. The salary was really bad as I couldn't actually afford to live a life and I didn't really have a life. The only benefit was working and meeting new people.
Productive engaging friendly place to dine and relax
Busser/Host (Former Employee) – St. Louis, MO – 4 January 2017
A typical day at The Boathouse positive high energy environment. I learned one of the essential tools of customer service to take care of the guest. Micro management with specific directive from directors of operations and supervisors. The most enjoyable part of the job enacting with and satisfying guest.
Waitress (Current Employee) – Instow, Devon – 5 December 2016
Nice place to work, friendly people to work with. I have learned a lot about different foods. Management are good, friendly and relaxed. The hardest part of the job I recon is the summer when it is busy most evenings, but the people you work with make it fun.
Head Chef and Kitchen Manager (Former Employee) – Nice, CA – 3 March 2016
Employment responsibilities included compliance with state health codes and the assurance of safe food preparation and storage practices. I had control over the development of menus while staying within the budget allotted by the restaurant manager. Employment of kitchen staff along with the scheduling was a part of my job duties. I also developed safer and more practical procedures and training programs to ensure the health, safety, and productivity of everyone under my care
My typical workday starts out around 8:45 a.m. at this time i go outside and check all the boats and adjust their height depending on the tide (or the level of the water) then i check the tenants payment logs and record their check information and make copies of said checks, I also check all lifts monthly and grease the machinery in all the appropriate areas. A deposit slip is completed once a month and all tenant checks are deposited into the business account.,
Long lunches at my home
Customers always expect that you are there any and all times of day and night
Bar Staff (Former Employee) – Durham – 7 April 2014
Boathouse is an amazing place to work the atmosphere and the customers aswell as the management team and the staff make it an amazing place to work. They were flexible and helpfull and management always tryed to help you out whatever the circumstance. Highly recommended place to work.
It created my passion for work in customer service no matter what part of the industry it is in.
I would say the most hardest part is the weekend rush but as long as you can keep a positive head and feed of the atmosphere then it is not all that bad.
my typical day is preparing and setting up for service, i have learned that customers value you as an individual when you get praise and comments about how good the food is .management consists of the owner who is friendly outgoing and trusts his staff.my co -workers are friendly and down to earth.the hardest part of my job is probably making sure The Boathouse runs perfectly when i am on shift. the most rewarding part of my day is making sure the customers have enjoyed the food and that you get the recognition that is very rewarding
Sunday Park, Hostess (Former Employee) – Midlothian, VA – 8 July 2013
I was a hostess at the boathouse a few years ago. I answered telephones, recorded reservations, worked many of the wedding events and escorted families to their table when ready. The hardest part of the job was learning the restaurant and where everything was at but thoroughly enjoyed working the private parties on the weekends.
enjoyed working events and meeting new people
did not receive any type of breaks when working longer shifts
waitress (Current Employee) – bradford-on-avon – 29 November 2014
Working here since the opening, it has been enjoyable and many laughs have been shared. The only negative feedback I have to give is the management team. The manager of the restaurant, is the kindest and hardest working manager i have ever had the opportunity to work with. The problem lies with the assistant managers.
A fast-paced, busy and high-end restaurant environment
Host Manager/Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) – Richmond, VA – 19 April 2013
I have worked at The Boathouse for close to four years. It's incredibly fast-paced and steady throughout the year. I was a hostess/admin. assistant and the hours were never sparse, the management is amazing and it was a very important job to have. I have always felt like a part of "The Boathouse Family" and was comfortable within the restaurant with the people I worked with. The hardest part of my job was the clientele. The customer base consists of your regular restaurants diners, but with a serious attitude. I am proficient in customer service, and I have never encountered the kind of entitled, rude and demanding guests that this restaurant caters to. However, the setting is beautiful and the food is amazing. I think it is a great place to work, especially if you have thick skin.
family atmosphere, great pay, good management, small business
Good environment to learn how to handle stress with a smile on, bad management style overall
Server (Current Employee) – St. Louis, MO – 28 August 2014
Good business throughout the summer. There was a rush of customers nearly every night from a local musical venue in the area. This tested my ability to handle a large amount of tasks while still providing service to guests, and I learned a lot about myself during this short period of time working here. The management is new and very shaky. They have not gained a lot of trust from the employees, and makes it a tense work environment. This is definitely the hardest part of this job. Business has slowed down a considerable amount in the last few weeks and I've really gotten a chance to work on my serving skills and really get to know my managers and why things aren't working with their management style. I love my coworkers at this restaurant and I love talking with guests about the food and what their plans are for the day!
volunteer (Former Employee) – Danson Park – 18 May 2013
On a typical day, I helped with the setup at the venue for a wedding breakfast and it was a nice experience. The clients provided the set up plan layout and then the team and I brought it into reality. At the end, the room looked very welcoming and beautiful and the wedding couple and their guest all liked what they saw. During my experience at the Boathouse, I learnt how the wedding planner consults with the clients and how to proceed by contacting suppliers and the team about the coming event and what needs to be done, how many staff needed for the occasion which depends normally on the size of the event. The Boathouse have a good management where everyone works as a team My co -workers are very nice people and willing to explain things to me . the hardest part of the job is when the is lack of communication and as a new person, it was hard to keep up at the beginning The most enjoyable part of the job is by welcoming and fulfilling each client dreams to their expectations and seeing then happy of the services that are provided to them
