PAYROLL/TIMEKEEPING ANALYST

**Minimum 3 years of experience in timekeeping/payroll and a Bachelors in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources or Information Technology REQUIRED**

The Payroll/Timekeeping Analyst will provide support for the existing hourly timekeeping system (GM TKS) and related business administration functions for timekeeping and payroll. Assist in the development of future timekeeping system (Kronos) and SAP based payroll system (ADP GV). Applicant should be comfortable exercising a high level of independent judgment in matters of a difficult and involved nature.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily audits of GM TKS entries, badge reader rings and Autogate entries on recaps
  • Perform weekly audit of all timekeeping recaps to ensure input to payroll system is accurate
  • Maintain and provide access to GM TKS for users
  • Perform periodic system access audits on all GM TKS users
  • Archive transaction records so audit trails are available for review by local, Corporate and outside auditors
  • Provide GM TKS training to new Supervisors of hourly employees on an as required basis
  • Provide direction on timekeeping (GM TKS) inquiries from Supervisors on the shop floor
  • Deal directly with the hourly workforce on a variety of payroll issues
  • Set-up new departments, shifts groups and work schedules in GM TKS, as required
  • Ensure all eligible part time employees receive statutory holiday pay throughout the year as required by the Employment Standards
  • Support Process Risk Management (PRM) validations for timekeeping activity
  • Process hourly pay adjustments (G80’s) in a timely fashion
  • Process bereavement and jury duty claims on a weekly basis
  • Input retroactive rate changes as notified in employment reports
  • Process small grievances for payment upon receipt from Labour Relations
  • Issue appropriate cards for table updates, pay advances, holiday pay, unused vacation, etc.
  • Maintain the files of hourly employee banking information to be used for direct deposit of pay
  • Lead and/or assist with special projects and global initiatives as required
  • Participate in the design, implementation and sustainment of the future timekeeping environment

Preferred Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources or Information Technology

Required Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of timekeeping and payroll systems
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and time efficiently
  • Highly developed computer skills especially Microsoft Access and Excel (Macros)
  • Ability to lead small project teams and work independently
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and team building skills
  • Demonstrates complex problem solving and analytical ability
  • Minimum 3-5 years work experience in a timekeeping/payroll environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
  • SAP Certified Application Professional - HR Certification
  • Prior experience using SAP payroll application
  • Prior experience using Kronos timekeeping system
  • Prior accounting work experience
