COMPENSATION: Salary & Benefits (Relocation Assistance)

  • Review and approve engineering changes from other designers
  • Complete engineering changes with care given to “broader implications”
  • Identify, co-ordinate, and complete testing and calculations required to validate engineering designs and support less experienced designers in those same efforts
  • Mentor other mechanical designers in proper mechanical design techniques and advise on suitability for underground applications
  • Actively research and advise of new design technology, manufacturing processes, products, and tools that will advance MEMCO’s position in the mobile underground market
  • Complete advanced mechanical assemblies including complete machine layouts from basic conceptual information
  • Manage new design/build projects through Engineering and Manufacturing with adherence to a project scope for time, budget, and performance
  • Follow designs through Manufacturing to confirm any “as built” changes required
  • Identify and champion continuous improvement opportunities


  • Mechanical Engineering diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Licensed through OACETT or PEO is preferred
  • 7 or more years’ experience in the design and/or manufacturing of heavy equipment
  • Completion of skills/responsibilities for the Intermediate designation and some exposure to Senior level duties
  • Advanced skills in the use of SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Skilled in the use of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical theory and the use of software to perform complex calculations to support engineering designs
  • Experienced in identifying and applying regulatory, design, and customer standards that apply to underground equipment
  • Capable of supervising work of less experienced designers
  • Proficient at interacting with internal and external resources to define customer requirements and

resolve technical issues
