The Web Operations Specialist (WS) will be responsible for web site and digital asset design, development, and ongoing operational performance of these properties. Tasks include web site production and maintenance, development/support of other digital assets including mobile apps, social media content and development/maintenance of our e-commerce capabilities. The Web Operations Specialist will be responsible for the timely delivery of content and functionality on all Terramera digital properties and maintaining the quality of the user experience. As a member of the Marketing department, this individual executes processes and controls to ensure a high quality site experience, performing the day to day tasks needed to drive the site environment, execute website quality testing and monitoring activities, technical support and web development projects (web sites, campaign microsites, landing pages mobile apps, etc.).

The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating and deploying compelling and engaging digital environment for a B2B and B2C customer base. They will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, have an analytical mind, live for testing, and be results oriented. We are a fast growing start-up so you will need be the Swiss Army Knife of web operations in this role. This role is based in Vancouver, B.C.

Essential Job Functions

  • Overall accountability for the development of and smooth functioning of our on-line and digital properties
  • Develops code and integrates artwork, text, video, and sound into Terramera websites.
  • Creates customized applications for smaller tasks to enhance website capability based on business needs. Builds table frames and forms and writes script within the browser to enhance site functionality.
  • Ensures web pages are functional across different browser types; conducts tests to verify user functionality. Verifies compliance with accessibility standards. Assists in resolving moderately complex production support problems.
  • Investigates and resolves matters of significance for end-user problems
  • Provides support for business system analysis and process definition to enhance site functionality.
  • Works with end users to address requirements, usability, accessibility, security and change requests to ensure website functionality.
  • Creates test plans and reports test results. Works with outside vendors as necessary, in developing tests to ensure future site functionality.
  • Researches new web technologies to provide clients with state of the art web capabilities.
  • Assists with cost management for site project. Performs necessary quality assurance activities to ensure optimum site functionality.

Experience Requirements

Possess minimum 5 years experience in a similar role including web site and digital marketing operating systems, programming, web, and analytics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five or more years of web, internet, or programmer/analyst related experience
  • Experience with multimedia applications, database interactions and data modeling tool
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, web content layout, website creation and migration skills. 
  • Proficiency in use of the following software products: Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft PowerPoint; Adobe Web Premium CS6; Microsoft SQL. 
  • Experience working with web authoring languages such as HTM & XML
  • Working knowledge and skill in HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Knowledge of cross-platform browser compatibility restrictions and requirements including Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla FireFox, Opera, Google Chrome, and/or Apple Safari. 
  • Should be proficient in use of tools/ techniques including: HTML, CSS, video editing software, A/B testing, Ad words and Facebook Ad Management, Google Analytics, Mailchimp, CRM, web survey tools
  • Communicate with client stakeholders and web site users in Webmaster-like role. 
  • Work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. 
  • Ability to support shifting priorities, demands and timelines in work assignments and project requirements. 
  • Good interpersonal skill to interact with customers and team members
