ABC Head Start offers a comprehensive preschool and family support program for families with low incomes. Operating in 11 locations across Edmonton, our goal is to prepare children for a successful educational experience in partnership with the family and community. Children in the ABC Head Start program are from 3½ to 5 years of age.
The Designated Special Needs Assistant (DSNA) works with the Head Start team with instruction and classroom management of the Early Learning programs. The Designated Special Needs Assistant supports specific children in the Head Start program on an individual basis who have complex needs including communication, physical, and behaviour.
- Early Learning and Child Care Diploma, Special Needs Educational Assistant Diploma,
- Rehabilitation Practitioner Diploma or equivalent
- Related experience working with pre-school children is required
- Experience working with children with complex needs is required
- Experience with home visitation is an asset
Hours of Work: Afternoon sessions from 1pm to 4:15pm
Compensation: $15.67 to $19.07 per hour plus 6 % vacation pay based on a 3.25 hours per day in part time placements.
