About TeraSpan Networks Inc.

As demand for reliable, always-on, high-speed broadband services continues to
rapidly grow, fiber optic networks have become the solution of choice for
governments, businesses and home owners. With Fiber To The Business (FTTB)
and Fiber To The Home (FTTH) reaching beyond new developments to
established communities, and new entrants such as power companies,
municipalities and wireless carriers building networks, service providers are
challenged to extend fiber networks directly to the premise at the lowest cost
possible. Shallow fiber deployment or “micro trenching” has emerged as aleading option to deliver fiber in established areas, often at a fraction of the cost
of traditional methods.

With partners in over 30 countries around the world, Teraspan Networks provides
“last mile” micro-trenched fiber optic access network solutions connecting
buildings or homes to backbone access points. Unlike traditional deployment
methods, TeraSpan’s patent pending Vertical Inlaid Fiber (VIF) micro-trenched
fiber optic solutions are non-intrusive and environmentally friendly - ideal for
metropolitan, suburban and urban areas.

Our customers, including Alcatel-Lucent, Shaw Cable Systems, the City of New
Westminster and Relacom Systems, have found that Vertical Inlaid Fiber
provides as much as 50% in cost savings and time to market compared with
traditional trenching or boring methods. For carriers, governments and
businesses deploying high bandwidth services in difficult urban or metropolitan
areas, Vertical Inlaid Fiber is the solution.
