CONTRACT SPECIALIST

Our client is one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2011 and are looking to grow their team by adding several new roles including a Contract Specialist

As a fully qualified supply chain professional this position independently takes responsibility for various procurement assignments, especially the development, formation, execution and administration of contracts for major projects

RESPONSIBILITIES

- As part of the project team, ensure that contracts and procurement needs are met

- Develop strategies to obtain best value for services and goods

- Develop, maintain and issue RFP (Request For Proposal) for goods and services

- Conduct commercial evaluation of bids and facilitate technical evaluation in collaboration with engineering / technical departments

- Complete the acquisition process for goods and services on time and on budget

- Administer contracts effectively and close out contracts in a timely manner

- Participate in negotiations to resolve commercial and technical exceptions, change orders and claims

- Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders to address their needs for information and input

- Develop and maintain positive relationships with contractors to ensure a strong supply base is available for services and goods

- Contribute to procurement management continuous improvement initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS

- Applicable post-secondary degree or diploma e.g. Business degree or diploma with specific education in the areas of Commerce, Business/ Contract Law, Accounting, Business Planning and Operations, Construction Administration certificate etc.

- Minimum 5 years progressive experience directly associated with Contracts/ Supply management experience, ideally in large construction, Pipeline or industrial projects environment

- Contracts/ Procurement experience in construction, facilities, gas/oil engineering Procurement Construction

- Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills are required

- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing strategic agreements with a proven track record for creating and sustaining value
