Pros: free breakfast and lunch
Cons: experice members are being demotivated due to work culture issue
COMPANY HAS BOTH CONTRACTOR AND COMPANY EMPLOYEES FOR PRODUCTION ACTIVITY. WELLFARE IS A MAJOR PART OF COMPANY POLICY WHICH HAS DIRECT VERY BALANCE IMPACT ON PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE. IT BRINGS COMPFORT AT PERONAL WORK TO COMPANY EMPLOYEES BUT AT THE SAME TIME CONTRACTOR EMPLOYEES HAS NOT PARALLEL BENEFITS TO BRING THEIR COMFORT LEVEL AT REMARKABLE – more... PLACE AS OF COMPANY EMPLOYEE. IT BRINGS SOME SOCIAL DIFFERENCE AT WORK PLACE FOR WORKING TEAM DUE DIFFERENT APPROACH OF COMFORT LEVEL FOR COMPANY EMPLOYEES AND CONTRACTOR EMPLOYEES. – less

Great experience
IT Audit Intern (Former Employee), TATAOctober 27, 2014
I researched on COBIT and COSO frameworks and developed gap assessment with these standards for the client. I brainstormed ideas with my colleague and while discussing my ideas he drafted an outline which used a combination of COSO and COBIT framework. This was an interesting experience for me since it could not envision that the problem at hand could – more... have been best solved by combining two industry best practices instead of using one of them. Even though this could have solved the engagement at hand, it would still not be the best solution for this client. I had a deep discussion with my colleague and it seemed that utilizing the combination of both frameworks was an ideal solution.
As part of the deliverables, we developed the gap assessment, overall audit architecture methodology, detailed reports and a presentation for the client's senior management. We had a chance to present this report to the management where I allowed my colleague take the lead as he understood the intermingling of two frameworks much better than myself. At the end of presentation, the client was quite impressed with our effort and decided that the recommendations provided by us were not just unique but also suited to their environment and culture. – less

Project Manager (Former Employee), Jajpur, Odisha, IndiaOctober 7, 2014
TATA Steel is a great employer, ensures that you have a work-life balance more than what you ever expected. But work culture is a little laidback, slow paced. You don't learn a lot as a young professional.

Enjoyable but hard work.
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee), Wolverhampton, ENGAugust 7, 2014
Pros: free coffee, good pay, short hours.
Cons: shift pattern, lazy employees.
I liked working at Tata Steel. It was very hard, physical labour that entailed a lot of heavy lifting, bending over to package stock and this was very consistent. I was given the opportunity by my co-workers to operate the machines inside the warehouse which I, personally, found very easy to understand and learn. Although I appreciate this, I found – more... the employees treated temp workers a little rough. Having to package four different pallets of steel blanks by yourself in twenty mins before another four come off is back breaking hard work and I rarely got help with that (when I worked on one machine). Apart from that I found them easy to get along with, just lazy. It was hard to package certain items when they come off machines quickly. If there were two of us it wouldn't have been so bad. On the other hand, hard labour and a good wage are the things that I enjoyed. Working hard made the time seem like it was moving fast. – less
