The Opportunity

Report to the TIGed Program Manager, the Sales and Business Development Coordinator to coordinate efforts towards the sales of TIGed’s paid professional development offerings.

This part-time volunteer opportunity at TakingITGlobal (TIG) is perfect for a student or recent graduate in the field of sales or marketing who is interested in the non-profit sector and education. We are looking for someone with sales experience to assist us in securing revenue for our online and in-person Professional Development (PD) offerings for educators. Roles and Responsibilities

Sales

  • Developing and refining sales materials for TIGed’s professional development offerings: pitch decks, promotional packages, emails, follow-up call guidelines
  • Informing the ongoing development of a strategic plan for the sales of TIGed’s PD offerings
  • Developing and expanding existing strategies for lead generation in partnership with the TIGed team
  • Drafting and editing sales slide decks and proposals
  • General lead generation & following up with online leads
  • Making follow-up calls to school administrators and affiliate organizations regarding TIGed’s PD offerings
  • Sending promotional packages to school administrators and key decision-makers at school districts
  • Outreach to potential partner organizations for the purpose of creating cross-promotional partnerships

Research

  • Developing a solid understanding of our professional development products auditing past sessions of professional development e-courses reviewing past workshop proposals
  • Helping to identify “customer pains” and performing research related to relevant news articles, white papers, industry trends to drive leads
  • Leverage our charitable status by seeking out pro-bono advertising in educational publications, and exhibit space at events/conferences to share our PD model and sell our offerings
  • Research potential sales/marketing partners who could sell our offerings in specific markets
  • Building on a market analysis in the field related to the demand for teacher professional development, funds available at schools, and the decision-making processes for purchasing

General

  • Liaise with TIGed Communications Assistant to ensure materials are editorially reviewed and meet professional writing standards
  • Participate in TIGed Team Meetings every two weeks
  • Share thoughts, ideas, and suggestions as they arise – especially as they relate to marketing and promotional efforts
  • Keep staff updated by posting to "My Week" every Friday and maintain regular communication with the Manager of Education Programs
  • Share interesting education related articles, news items, and resources with the team
  • Add relevant bookmarks to the TIGed Delicious account utilizing the established tagging system
  • Contribute to the Internal TIGed Operations and Training Manual as relevant
  • Prepare a handover note to help to orient the next individual filling this role

Required Qualifications

  • Degree or current studies in a related field (Sales/Marketing/Business Development)
  • Passion for marketing and sales
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision and take initiative
  • Effective time management, prioritization and organizational skills
  • Belief in the vision and mission of TIGed and TakingITGlobal
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Creativity
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills

Asset Qualifications

  • Experience with Salesforce or other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
  • Significant interest in youth-related issues and experience working with young people from a * wide variety of cultures
  • Fluency in languages other than English
  • Experience working and/or volunteering in the non-profit sector
  • Education or experience in the field of education

Commitment Level:

We are looking for someone who is able to commit 20 hours per week, working 2 days per week at the TakingITGlobal office and 4 hours weekly working remotely from their home.
