SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

Role Description:
Pension and Benefits
Administer core and SRSP pension programs
Meet all legislated reporting requirements (pension statements, pension adjustments, pension adjustment reversals)
Ensure legislative requirements are met
Administer flexible and core benefit programs
Recommend improvements to programs as required
Coordinate annual re-enrollment
Assist employees in resolving benefit concerns and pension issues
Ensure new hires receive benefit orientation and are signed into pension and benefit programs in a timely manner

Recruitment
Oversee internal job posting procedure
Ensure jobs are awarded fairly and in accordance with policy
Oversee direct hiring of full-time employees

Disability (STD/LTD/WSIB) and Attendance Management
Ensure qualified applicants receive benefits in timely fashion
Communicate with applicants regarding status of their claims
Manage questionable and denied claims in a proactive and effective manner
Facilitate work hardening and modified return to work programs

Employee Relations
Monitor application of policy to ensure company wide consistency
Answer questions and provide interpretation and guidance to all employees
Act as advocate for employees in cases where policies are not followed correctly or associates have been dealt with unfairly
Investigate questions, complaints, problems and corrective action situations

Other
Act in accordance with Provincial and Federal employment legislation
Complete special projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum University Degree in Human Resources or appropriate discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant Human Resources experience
  • Experience in Pension and Benefits Administration, Disability and Attendance Management and Recruiting an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills and interviewing skills
  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Proven sound judgment and maturity
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal and Provincial employment legislation
