TJ’s Oilfield Contracting Limited is seeking to hire an experienced Civil Construction Superintendent for one of its project sites located in the Narrows Lake area (approx. 120 KM south of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. This position is project based, rotational travel is required.

The Site Superintendent plans, organizes, directs, facilitate and evaluate the activities and operations of a specific site to achieve T.J.'s Oilfield Contracting Ltd. organizational goals and objectives. He/She will advise all levels of T.J.'s regarding site management. The Site Superintendent will be responsible to sustain and prevent an injury free workplace and inform management of current and new job tasks of the future. He/She will connect with new and current staff of T.J.'s Oilfield Contracting Ltd.
*Plan, organize, direct, control, facilitate and evaluate the full scope of site specific projects
*Understand and Interpret Engineering drawings and specifications
*Understand project specifications, the contract, contract's general conditions and confirms that all materials and subcontract work comply with contract documents and quality specifications.
*Establish and maintain necessary communication with subcontractors, consultants and the client undertaking all other tasks related to the management of a site specific project.
*Ensuring that the work site and company assets are secure while maintaining a safe and respectful working environment
*Implement programs for safety, risk management, training and quality control. Obtains all inspections required by law
*Conducts employee safety and toolbox meetings
*Supervise and lead a group of 10 to 60 employees
*Participates in basic layout and field engineering activities
*Liaison between the sub contractors and Contract Manager of T.J.'s
*Ensure all field documentation including safety records, quantity surveys, reports and time sheets for all T.J.'s employees and/or contract labourers are completed correctly.
*Check on the work site and site specific project as accurately as possible and avoid theft and fire
*Perform other related duties as requested by Contracts Manager.
Experience and Education Requirements:
*College or University related training in the field of Project Management or a combination of education with 3 to 5 years of Project Management experience
*Possess excellent organizational skills, time management skills, written skills, verbal skills and strong interpersonal skills
*Must possess Leadership and Supervision ability
*Good analytical and problem solving skills
*Possess integrity and good judgement
*Good tact and diplomacy
*Understand Safety Policies and Procedures as they relate to specific Safety Rules and Regulations ie OH&S, ACSA, Labour Standards
*Have sensitivity and the ability to keep site specific projects and employee information confidential
*Possess the following courses: Prime Contractor, Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE), Principles of Health and Safety Management (PHSM), Alcohol, Drugs and Safety and Supervisor Enhancement
*Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a clean Drivers Abstract
*Pre-employment Drug and Achohol test will be required as per company policy (at employees expense)
