LOGGING / MULCHING / SLASHING TEAM REQUIRED

TJ’s Oilfield Contracting Limited is seeking to invite applications/resumes of experienced candidates for the positions indicated below for its Logging / Mulching / Slashing operations in Fort McMurray which is weather dependant and expected to begin in October/November 2013 and continue till March/April 2014. Attractive and competitive compensation package would be offered commensurate to qualification and experience of the candidates. In addition to the specified certifications, the Safety Tickets requirements indicated below must be met.

LOGGING SUPERINTENDENT

Job Responsibilities:
Effectively manage the Logging team and business of the company.
Ability to prepare and submit competitive job bids.
Ensure proper distribution of equipment.
Supervise all logging jobs to ensure quality of work and production.
Ensure compliance to TJ’s and project site HSE requirements.
Possess good working knowledge of logging equipment operations and routine maintenance.
Prioritize with Maintenance Shop Manager and Fleet Manager to ensure fleet is available and operational based on requirements.
Build rapport with clients to ensure the longevity of the company-client relationship.
Assist and provide guidance to foreman.
Coordinate with Human Resources to hire competent operators, foreman and other logging staff.
Develop detailed weekly work progress reports for purpose of creating policies, mitigating identified issues-problems to move forward in a positive direction.
Responsible for the success and further growth of the company through all logging operations.

Prior experience of minimum of 10 years in managing Logging operations.
Supervisor courses would be preferred.
Heavy Equipment Course certification would be preferred, however, the 10 years logging management experience requirement is a must.

LOGGING FOREMAN

Supervise the daily field operations and provide weekly progress reports.
Reports any problems to the Logging Superintendent to ensure proper action is taken.
Regularly coordinates with the Maintenance Shop Foreman to ensure the required services along with repair and maintenance of equipment are carried our efficiently and report related issues to the Logging Superintendent for timely resolution.
Responsible for ensuring safety of all employees at jobsite and ensuring that all legal documentation / TJ’s Hazard ID Cards are filled out.
Responsible for filling-out the LEMs correctly and legibly.
Voices concerns from employees to Logging Superintendent to ensure employee morale is maintained high and identified issues are addressed on a timely basis.
Regularly coordinates with clients to ensure their concerns are handled efficiently.
Responsible for production and communicates daily with the concerned on any issues or problems that slow down production.
Responsible for the placement of decking as well as road construction for timely review with the client representative.
Inspects work site by walking the block to determine that everything has been cut to specifications and proper retentions are left and that all boundaries/retention is clean with no fallen trees outside the boundary.
Ensure that buncher is falling properly for skidder, and skidder is decking properly, using skid trails etc.
Responsible for collecting and ensuring employee timesheets are correct.
Possess minimum of 5 years of team lead/foreman experience in logging.
Possess working knowledge of logging equipment operations and routine maintenance.
Possess a very good understanding of the logging operations and ability to mentor and provide guidance to the team members.
Heavy Equipment Course certification would be preferred, however, the 5 years logging experience requirement is a must.

DELIMBER OPERATOR

Responsible for delimbing trees in a safe and productive manner, as well as conduct routine daily equipment maintenance.
Competent operator with at least 3 years of Delimber Operator experience.
Preferred experience in operating both Denharco and John Deere Limmit Delimbers.
Possess basic knowledge and understanding of safe work practices and procedures.
Heavy Equipment Course certification would be preferred, however, the 3 years Mulcher Operator experience requirement is a must.

FELLER BUNCHER OPERATOR
Responsible for operating the Feller Bucher in a safe and productive manner, as well as conduct routine daily equipment maintenance.
Competent operator with at least 3 years of Feller Buncher Operator experience.
Possess basic knowledge and understanding of safe work practices and procedures.
Heavy Equipment Course certification would be preferred, however, the 3 years Feller Buncher Operator experience requirement is a must.

SKIDDER OPERATOR
Responsible for operating the Skidder in a safe and productive manner, as well as conduct routine daily equipment maintenance.
Competent operator with at least 3 years of Skidder Operator experience.
Possess basic knowledge and understanding of safe work practices and procedures.
Heavy Equipment Course certification would be preferred, however, the 3 years Skidder Operator experience requirement is a must.

CERTIFIED FALLER
Responsible for operating as a Certified Faller in a safe and productive manner, as well as conduct routine daily equipment/tools maintenance.
Must possess own tools and equipment e.g. Power Saw, Fuel & Oil Cans etc.
Competent Certified Faller with at least 3 years of experience.
Possess basic knowledge and understanding of safe work practices and procedures.
Certification Faller certification is a mandatory requirement.

CERTIFIED BUCKER/SLASHER
Responsible for operating as a Certified Bucker/Slasher in a safe and productive manner, as well as conduct routine daily equipment/tools maintenance.
Must possess own tools and equipment e.g. Power Saw, Fuel & Oil Cans etc.
Competent Certified Bucker/Slasher with at least 3 years of experience.
Possess basic knowledge and understanding of safe work practices and procedures.
Certification Faller certification is a mandatory requirement.

SAFETY TICKETS REQUIRED FOR ALL POSITIONS:

Safety ticket requirements for all the above listed positions are listed below (please note that only those applicants would be considered who possess at least the first five documents/safety tickets, copies of which must be attached along with the Resume/Application):

1. Valid Driving Licence (minimum Class 5)

2. CSTS (On-line course “Construction Safety Training System” preferable by Alberta Construction Safety Association).

3. Enform H2S Alive (Classroom training by Enform, H2S Awareness is not acceptable).

4. Standard First Aid Course (Classroom training of two days).

5. Ground Disturbance Level II (Classroom training only by Global Training Centre, Learn Rite Courses Inc., Astec Safety Inc. or Alberta Construction Safety Association, please note that On-line course of Ground Disturbance Level II is not acceptable).

6. WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System). In case the applicant does not possess the WHMIS ticket, then the WHMIS Training can be provided during the TJ’s Orientation upon hiring.

7. TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods). In case the applicant does not possess the TDG ticket, then the TDG Training can be provided during the TJ’s Orientation upon hiring.

Selected candidates would need to provide a fresh Driver's Abstract and a fresh Alcohol & Drug Test Result at their own expense.
