Position: QC Leader Technician (Quality Department)
Shift: Days (possibility of rotating shifts – Days/Afternoons in future)
Number of positions: 1
Reporting: QA Supervisor & Plant Manager

The Leader Technician will work closely with the QC Inspectors and assist with directing work flow.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Train QC Inspectors on process updates/changes and the importance of the change
  • Assign work to QC Inspectors
  • Document control and statistical tracking
  • Ensures all employees are following set work instructions and 5S conditions are maintained in all assigned areas
  • Assist with inspection and identification of defects
  • Assist performing quality checks on all mass production products, functional checks on required products (i.e. push/pull gauge), audits (finished and in-process goods)
  • Initiates internal non-conformance reports for all defects found internally
  • Travel to customer location to support in containment and investigation of non-conformances
  • Coordinate and communicate with QC and Production in Palmerston
  • Work overtime when required

Knowledge and Experience

  • Read, record and judge colour for plastic and painted parts
  • Part dimensional layout utilizing check fixtures and appropriate measuring equipment (i.e. vernier calipers, steel rule, height gauge)
  • Good working knowledge of: injection assembly and paint assembly processes, kanban processquality, functional and audit checks
  • Proficient reading blueprints and specifications


  • Valid ‘G’ driver’s license
  • Colour identification
  • Math Skills: add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
  • Physically capable of performing the required duties

Schedule & Rotation

  • At the time when another Leader Technician is necessary, 2 week rotation will be implemented
  • Shift times will vary with production requirements
