Employee Relations Specialist
Assistant General Manager, Corporate Administration
General Job Description:
Responsible for supporting TG Minto’s stakeholders to enhance and maintain the Positive Employee Relations program. Also responsible for performing some Recruitment function for assigned departments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Promote positive employee relations by effectively engage employees and communicate with all levels of the organization providing advice, assistance and follow up on policies and procedures.
Support, coach and counsel leaders in employee relations and legislative matters.
Conduct investigations when needed.
Responsible for coordinating the Concerns Resolution Process and record keeping for assigned group.
Conduct exit interviews and report results.
Manage employee discipline in consultation with Assistant General Manager Corporate Administration.
Provide reports as needed.
Mediate resolutions for parties in conflict.
In collaboration with the AGM, Corporate Admin evaluates, reviews and updates policies and procedures. Provide training and communication on any applicable changes.
Remain current and report on changing legislation.
- Recruitment and Selection
Participate in interviews and the selection process for positions above FTM for assigned departments.
Work with the HR Specialist, Recruitment to ensure all requisitions, postings, job ads and offer letters initiated and all pertinent paperwork completed.
Participate and coordinate activities related to but not limited to employee opinion survey focus group activities, employee recognition events, quarterly roundtables and the monthly President’s Roundtable.
This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.

Education or Experience
- Post-Secondary education in Human Resources Management with CHRP or designation in progress with a minimum of 4-5 years’ direct experience in employee/labour relations.
- Have a strong working knowledge of applicable legislation.
- Must be flexible to support a 3 shift operation when required and multiple facilities.
- Must have a strong customer focus along with solid interpersonal, and communication skills as will be interacting with people in all levels of the organization.
