TFL Industrial is seeking an exceptional individual to join our winning team. If you‘re an outgoing, experienced Purchaser seeking long-term, permanent employment, we’d like to hear from you!

Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 4:30pm

Location: Edmonton, AB

Job Description

-Perform a variety of clerical duties to ensure that merchandise, supplies, and equipment are shipped on schedule.
-Maintain stock rotation and accuracy of inventory levels.
-Inspect all invoices and receiving reports to determine if quantity ordered matches quantity received; review prices, and payment terms to ensure agreement with purchase order and dispose of discrepancies.
-Maintain interface with vendors to ensure the procurement of high quality merchandise, expedient delivery, and dependable service at optimum price, referring problems involving deliveries or invoices to the Shop Manager for resolution.
-Assist in negotiating contractual arrangements between TFL Industrial and selected vendors committing TFL Industrial funds up to authorized limits; place orders.
-Assist in research and analysis of markets to determine vendor sources and product availability; keep abreast of market fluctuations affecting prices; inform Shop Manager of new product development.
-Prepare and process various forms involving change orders, exception reports and other buying procedures; price requisitions as required.
-Provide Controller with information required to set up a new Vendor.
-Build and maintain relationships with all levels of employees.
-Promote and adhere to TFL Industrial Safety Management System.

Job Requirements

-3 + years’ experience in a Purchaser role.
-A working knowledge of metal fabrication/welding and the tools/equipment needed in the industry.
-A working knowledge of the different types of raw materials generally used in structural and/or piping fabrication.
-A positive attitude towards others (good people skills).
-Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement.
-The ability to recognize the difference between what is needed and what is wanted.
-Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
-Strong PC skills; proficiency with various word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.
-Enthusiastic with high energy and timely responsiveness.
-Self-motivated and self-confident.
-Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively and work well under pressure and tight timelines.
-Ability to deal with confidential information with a high degree of diplomacy.
-Understands and demonstrates the willingness to promote TFL Industrial’s vision and values.
-A desire to build strong professional relationships.
