Our Vancouver based client has an exciting, immediate need for an experienced Cisco Network Engineer for a 6 month contract position. This could possibly turn into a longer-term contract and requires a consultant with the ability to help on large networking related projects, as well as overseeing the day-to-day operations of the network.
-Providing technical assistance in planning, designing and maintaining corporate network services, technology and infrastructure.
-Resolving technical problems related to the telecommunication network, coordinating support teams and vendors where necessary to jointly resolve problems
. Monitoring telecommunications services to customers and ensure desired performance, capacity
- Implementing, and administering local and wide area network architectures
- Implementing communication protocols including TCP/IP, SMTP, FTP, and HTTP.
- Implementing and administering Cisco switches and routers
- Installing, configuring, and administering network monitoring software and firewalls
- Remote network management
-Updating documentation on an as needed basis
Skill Set Requirements
5+ years working in large enterprise networking environments
Experience with RF engineering and large enterprise WiMAX environments is mandatory
Familiarity with DHCP, AAA, NMS routing and switching is necessary
Strong experience in Cisco networking technologies is mandatory
Strong firewall (Cisco Pix and/or Checkpoint) experience is desirable
Experience with lab setups, test plan creation and testing is required
CCNA certification or above is highly preferred
Degree in Computer Science is highly preferred
Strong technical writing skills (system documentation, process development, equipment performance reports, etc) is required
