TDS Personnel is seeking a Personnel Consultant (Construction Specialist) for its Toronto location who can use sales, business development, marketing techniques, and networking in the construction industry to attract business.

Salary will range between $45,000.00 to $50,000.00 per year for a temporary full-time position at 40 hours per week, in addition to possible bonuses and commission. There will be medical, dental, group insurance, and vision care benefits.

Tasks & Duties

  • Working towards targets that may relate to the number of candidates placed within the construction industry, a value to be billed to clients or business leads generated
  • Building relationships with clients in construction
  • Developing a good understanding of client companies, the construction industry, what they do, and their work culture and environment
  • Advertise vacancies appropriately by drafting and placing adverts in a wide range of media, e.g., newspapers, websites, magazines
  • Using social media to advertise positions, attract candidates and build relationships with candidates and employers in the construction industry
  • Targeted search within construction – researching and generate qualify leads list
  • Using candidate databases in construction to find the right person for the client’s vacancy
  • Receiving and reviewing applications, applying skills and behavioral based interview techniques to qualify candidates work ethic and attitude
  • Requesting references and checking the suitability of applicants before submitting their details to the client
  • Briefing the candidate about the responsibilities, salary and benefits of the job in question
  • Preparing CVs and correspondence to forward to clients in respect of suitable applicants
  • Organizing interviews for candidates as requested by the client
  • Informing candidates about the results of their interviews
  • Negotiating pay and salary rates and finalizing arrangements between client and candidates
  • Offering advice to both clients and candidates on pay rates, training and career progression
  • Reviewing recruitment policies to ensure effectiveness of selection techniques and recruitment programs
  • Providing resume critique

Skills and Qualities:

  • Post-secondary university degree required
  • Must have 2-3 years of experience in the recruitment industry, with in-depth knowledge of behavioural style interview techniques, and specific experience with recruiting and networking in the construction industry
  • Solid business acumen with an entrepreneurial flair and interest in the construction industry
  • Ambitious, confident, and results driven
  • Sales driven and motivated by money and targets
  • Must be fluent in English with strong communications skills
  • A good team player
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and to work to deadlines
