Residential Support workers are responsible to support individuals in a group home setting. Support may include providing emotional and therapeutic support to assist with emotional, behavioural or mental health challenges. There is a focus on promoting inclusion in individuals’ communities and assisting them to build relationships. Other supports can include helping the individuals to fulfill their domestic obligations (i.e. meal preparation & cleanup; laundry) and personal care. Ability to work and communicate well within a team environment. Ability to work with families. Documentation as needed.
Physical Job Demands:
Some locations require ability to transfer/lift; ability to implement behavioural support plans as needed; ability to participate in leisure plans, assist with domestic household duties as required.
Must be 18 years of age or older. Education in Human Services preferred. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges preferred. Good verbal (receptive and expressive) and written English language skills required.
