About the position
The Junior Dispatcher-Customer Service Specialist manages and maintains customer accounts to ensure timely and accurate delivery of customer product. This position is responsible for a high level of customer service and providing creative transportation solutions. Ensures that services are delivered in an effective and efficient manner. Provides information to customers by answering questions and offering assistance. Responsible for ensuring that all paperwork is traceable, current and complete.

Main areas of responsibility

  • Liaises with primarily LTL/TL and Intermodal carriers
  • Follows up on transportation arrangements
  • Checks and confirms order status on pick-ups and deliveries
  • Tracks/traces shipments via phone and internet
  • Identifies, investigates and addresses any service failures
  • Ensures complete customer satisfaction
  • Engages in extensive phone and computer work
  • Updates clients’ web portals on internal operations system
  • Checks and maintains clients’ web portals for updated bills of lading
  • Provides information to customers, answers questions and offers assistance
  • Resolves billing problems by identifying issues and proposing solutions
  • Liaises with couriers to place orders as needed
  • Ensures that paperwork is current, correct, complete and filed
  • Follows safety and security procedures and reports unsafe conditions

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • High School diploma
  • 2-3 years’ dispatch and customer service experience
  • Speaks clearly, asks for clarification when necessary, responds to questions
  • Pleasant telephone manner and solid interpersonal skills
  • Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Strong knowledge of LTL and FTL and Intermodal carrier base for domestic and cross border movements an asset
  • Strong familiarity with Canadian and U.S. border points and their respective requirements for clearances and bonds
  • Ability to develop top-notch relationships with customers and carriers
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Punctual and dependable
  • Ability to follow instructions and respond to management direction
  • Experience working in customer-focused, for-profit environment an asset

Pay Range: to be determined
