Loved the residents
Medication Manager (Current Employee), Ann Arbor, MI – January 12, 2013
It was a busy place with a lot of nice people but there always seems to be a few drama filled people. A lot of OT but little to no room for advancement.

Sunrise is a nice place to work with great core values. Got along with all my coworkers and management. I was let go when the company was bought out along with about 11 other employees.

Farrah – January 2, 2013

as well as long hours, the so called general manager expected me to work 3 weekend days per month... then giving me dead line for trivial things so that I had to work lieu days too... she promoted people under qualified so that she could have alieds in her little "click"... My dream job was turned into a nightmare... Stay away from this company...

JDHDSD – April 2, 2013

This puts the Salt Lake City location in a nutshell. The residents are not very happy either.

Productive and fun working environment
Care manager (Former Employee), Frederick, MD – December 24, 2012
Had good time with both customers and co-workers. I learned how to interact with different personalities. The hardest part of the job is early in the morning and the enjoyable part is during the late hours. The institution has bad management.

Manager for Senior Living (Former Employee), East Brunswick, NJ – December 19, 2012
Pros: flexibility, seeing people
Cons: pay, short breaks for luch
The typical day was early working with peers and managing at times.
We learned how to help people in daily lives, managing others, teamwork, and the ability to have independence at times with our
jobs. The hardest part was lifting patients but we had help but then
at times we learned how to do it on our own. The enjoyable part is helping them and their – more... families and having a relationship and seeing them happy. – less

Fun with Sunrise Senior Living
Certified Nurse Aide/Care Manager (Former Employee), Woodcliff Lake, NJ – December 11, 2012
Working at Sunrise Senior Living was an amazing experience it help with learn more about working with the elderly, deal with the death and dying, how to have fun with the elderly, meet their family members and basically help those that can no longer take care of themselves. All my co-workers were amazing we became one big family and all work hand in – more... hand to help one another get through each night at work. What I enjoyed most about working there was the residents we laughed, cried, danced and most of all I cared about all my residents the good and the bad they are all people in my eye and I loved them. – less

Great as long as you don't have a family
Management (Former Employee), VA – December 4, 2012
Cons: shady upper management
It was great until you have a normal family that requires a day off here and there. I worked 12 hours a day and came in on days off, but as soon as I needed to leave early a few days to take care of my family I was told that I was taking too much time off. If you are making a good salary and have a bonus coming up, be very careful because senior management – more... will find a way to get out of paying it. I use to put all my faith into this company until I heard of dozens of stories like mine. Please be careful! – less

Wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a career
Care Manager (Former Employee), west babylon, ny – November 29, 2012
Pros: a lot of downtime, residents can normally make your day
Cons: healthcare, hard labor, heavy lifting, poor managment
Company never wanted to bring in machines to assist the workers with the residents. It was very hard labor for little pay. Co-workers were very friendly and welcoming. This job has taught me how to be extremely patient and how to deal with stressful situations without losing my cool.

Working at Sunrise was a great experience, I loved working here.
Caregiver & Activites Director (Former Employee), Westlake Village, CA – November 20, 2012
Pros: great benefits, and amazing work enviroment. a lot of room to advance
Cons: getting close to residents that were near death
While working at sunrise I had several positions, including being a server in the dining room for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I assisted the residents with daily living and assisted the activities director. Among my responsibilities were to keep a daily calendar of activities for the residents, organize and run craft workshops for the residents and – more... plan and run special activities for holiday celebrations and special events such as resident re-new of the vowels weddings. I would help residents get ready for the day, as well as to go to sleep and everything they needed in between. – less

Great Place to work
Activities and Volunteer Coordinator (Former Employee), Katy, TX – November 20, 2012
Pros: universal team, family culture
Cons: advancement difficult
In the world of Assisted Living you really could not find a better place where the culture and dedication to Championing the lives of seniors come together seamlessly as it does at Sunrise Senior Living of Cinco Ranch. The true heroes are the care team and their dedication to the residents. The Universal team approach works so well throughout the community. – more... Coming to work at Cinco can be like coming home. The work is hard, but the lead care managers are good at not over whelming their teams. The true downfall is not really being able to advance, so your growth opportunities may find you working in less desirable conditions than you'd be used to at Cinco, if you move to another community for advancement. – less
