Disaster Recovery Specialist II (Former Employee), Wood Dale, ILJuly 16, 2014
Pros: great people and excellent company benefits
I worked in the Availability Services area for five years and loved working for the company. I was able to learn new technologies and the work was very stimulating. I would recommend the company to someone who likes challenges and wants to broaden their knowledge base.

Only as a last resort
Former employee (Former Employee), 401 Broad StDecember 22, 2013
Pros: decent starting salary and benefits
Cons: layoffs, no raises, no training, no direction, etc etc etc
IT professionals - only take a job at Sungard if you are desperate for a paycheck. This is a horrible place to work that constantly lays people off. Depressing work areas, no training, no goals, no consistent direction, no raises, good luck getting so much as a pen. Management is clueless and lacks integrity, and is deceiving the customer base. They – more... are selling MRP with no idea how to deliver it and no staff to support it. Processes change daily. Internal systems are ancient and there is no budget to fix them. DR is a dying field due to virtualization, cloud technologies and the abundance of raised floor space most companies have. Avoid this dying dinosaur of a company at all costs. If you need a job, work here for the check and look for something else. – less

Data Communications Engineer (Former Employee), Grand Prairie, TXNovember 19, 2013
I worked here for nearly 10 Years and overall the company was a good place to work for. It did lack opportunities for advancement and over the last 5 years due to multiple RIF's the workload and travel increased.

Pros: work life balance and the team i worked with. being able to travel to other sites
one day is never the same as the next. You may have an idea of what you need to do for the day, but things are always changing and you will need to be prepared to change your workload for the unexpected.

I have learnt what it really means to be part of a team who supports each other in whatever is going on and helps each other with each aspects of – more... each role and responsbilities.

my co-workers are very supportive and socialable and my manager was the best manager i have had in my working career. – less

Struggling
Project Manager (Former Employee), Thornton, COJune 10, 2013
Pros: challenging
Cons: company was experiencing massive struggles.
Workday was typically handling projects and customers at risk. What I learned was how hard it is for a company to get their feet under them after aggressive expansion followed by an economic pullback. The people, by-in-large, were exceptionally talented and wanted to help the company get back on track. Management struggled to find a direction. The hardest – more... part of the job was trying to get traction in the course of constant reorganization (seven in four years). I enjoyed the challenge of trying to help the most. – less
