YMCA of Sudbury is a charity dedicated to providing opportunities to individuals, families and communities for personal growth and service to others. We have been offering programs and services to the Greater Sudbury community since 1935! Today, we employ more than 70 full-time professionals and up to 250 part-time and seasonal staff. YMCA of Sudbury offers programs and services in five areas: Child Care, Camping Services, Health and Fitness, Employment Services and Newcomer Services.
We are currently looking for a Day Camp Counselor to join our team of committed and professional staff. This is a full-time, contract position within the Association and is housed at the YMCA of Sudbury on Durham Street location. Under the leadership of the Manager of Preschool, Youth and Teen Programs, the Day Camp Counselor is responsible for program planning and delivery to ensure participant satisfaction. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is dynamic, able to work as part of a progressive team, enjoys working with children and who is capable of managing multiple tasks.
Summary of Qualifications:
Must be 16 years of age or older;
One to three years of related experience;
Standard First Aid and CPR Level C;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French;
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong team player
Planning, organizing, and carrying out theme/event days;
Implementation of daily programs;
Behavior management of the program participants;
Communicating with parents;
Engage and participate with the program participants in group activities;
Actively participating in programs; and
Other duties assigned by the Association.
