YMCA of Sudbury offers programs and services in five areas: Child Care, Camping Services, Health and Fitness, Employment Services and Newcomer Services.
We are currently looking for a Bilingual Employment Consultant – Maternity Leave Replacement to join our team of committed and professional staff. This is a full-time, contract position within the Association and is housed at the YMCA of Sudbury Employment Services location. Under the leadership of the Quality Assurance Supervisor, the Employment Consultant for the Resource Centre provides assistance, information, and counseling on all aspects of employment programs, job searching, career planning, and education options to clients in the Resource Centre. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to plan and organize their work goals, manage conflict and concerns, believe in teamwork and collaboration, work independently with minimal supervision, assist others with their development through coaching, and have good communication skills.
Summary of Qualifications:
Minimum college level diploma in social sciences; University level degree in social sciences or a related field is preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in personal and/or vocational counseling;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French is mandatory;
Strong computer skills and the ability to research/develop workshops/community presentations;
Knowledge of community resources and presentation/facilitation skills; and
Crisis management and excellent interpersonal skills.
Major Responsibilities & Duties:
Determine program eligibility (screening);
Lead clients in the development of action plans in order to acquire the necessary information, skills, and or resources to achieve their career goals;
Provide information in individual or workshop settings regarding resumes, job search techniques, workplace safety, rules and expectations of employers, etc.;
Assist with putting supports in place (i.e. child care, transportation, work equipment, supplies, etc.);
Complete monthly reports and prepare clients for interviews and job placements;
Reception duties (i.e. answering general inquiries, etc.); and
Other duties assigned by the Association.
