Community Health Nurse
The Stz’uminus First Nation is seeking a temporary part-time Community Health Nurse.
The Community Health Nurse (CHN) reports to the Health Manager and works closely with the Health Team and others to promote holistic community wellness, protect health, prevent injury and illness and to support and assist in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of health services and programs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Priority Program Areas are as follows:
Communicable Disease Control – vaccinations and screening
Child and Youth Program – Maternal Infant and Pre- and Postnatal
Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention
Have and maintain an immunization certificate
Have leadership skills
Deal with co-workers and the public in a friendly, professional way
Have First Nation cultural knowledge and sensitivity
Analytical and problem solving skills
Attend meetings at the request of the Community Director or Health Manager
Have strong computer skills (i.e., knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet research, and Email).
Adhere to strict rules of confidentiality
Demonstrate good oral and written communications skills including the ability to prepare reports
Possess effective time and stress management skills
Perform other duties as assigned
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing with experience in Community Health Nursing;
Current registration (RN) as a member in good standing with the Registered Nurses Association of British Columbia (RNABC)
Current CPR and First Aide certification.
A successful criminal records check is mandatory
Must have and maintain a valid BC drivers license
