Job Title: Fall Internship (Paid)
Reports To: Director
Duration: 12 Weeks (October 1-December 23)
Compensation: Honorarium + possible performance bonus
Hours: Variable to a maximum 15 hours a week
Recently named one of Canada’s “1000 Startups,” Strings Around The World Inc. is an online music conservatory that aims to foster a love of music and enrich the lives of kids, adults and families by using videoconferencing technology like Skype to make competent, experienced, one-on-one instruction available to string players worldwide.
The ideal intern will be a creative, forward-thinking and articulate person who is as passionate about social media and technology as (s)he is about making great music education available to students of all ages, worldwide.
-Effectively use social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn) to promote the Strings Around The World brand.
-Develop marketing and communications materials aimed at prospective students and families.
-Help to build and maintain partnerships with like-minded associations and student-focused organizations worldwide.
-Stay up-to-date with current developments in music education, pedagogy and technology related to virtual teaching.
-Help to create and implement new initiatives, including Strings Around The Worlds’ quarterly outreach projects.
-Attend industry events as needed.
-Other duties as assigned.
-A current student or a recent graduate working towards or holding a post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (marketing, communications, media, music, music education)
-A background in music, music education and/or arts management, familiarity with stringed instruments and a keen interest in marketing and communications.
-Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
-A thorough understanding of social media platforms and knowledge of the latest online trends.
-Strong time-management skills and an ability to be self-motivated, self-directed and meet deadlines.
-Oriented to details and able to track relationships with both corporate and media partners.
