Cashier (Former Employee) – Milton, ON – 1 August 2017
This was by far the worst job I have ever had. The managers were rude and did not adhere to scheduling requests for students. I applied for part-time (also stated 3 shifts a week would be preferred) and was scheduled more than 5 days a week then called in almost every day I was off. They were under staffed and could not keep employees for more than a month. We would be scheduled to work until 9 and have to stay 2 hours after to finish clean up because we did not have enough people. That being said, if we didn't have enough hours to go over they would shut down the system or tell us to clock out before we were even done. We were also not allowed to take pictures of the schedule and were expected to write it down. Due to this, the schedule was changed 3 or 4 times and girls were not able to give proof that it was changed. As far as the higher level management, they did not seem to care about us as employees either. We were not given direct deposits until 4 months after started and they would sometimes misplace our cheques. It is obvious why the employees do not stay long here.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) – Brampton, ON – 5 July 2017
Typical retail job. The most enjoyable part was interacting with customers and my co-workers. The only downside was that it would take us a while after closing to actually leave as there was so much to do around the store but there were not a lot of employees working shifts.
Sales Associate (Seasonal Help) (Former Employee) – Edmonton, AB – 21 June 2017
Your always on your feet either being yelled at by angry customers or fellow employees. Fellow employees stole from the store before it opened in the morning and wore the clothes they stole throughout their entire shift for that day and the managers wouldn't address it as a problem. Very bad experience in working there.
Employees that stole and managers that were okay with such things.
Sales Associate/Cashier (Current Employee) – Red Deer, AB – 15 June 2017
Put out stock, tend to customers frequently, I learned about cash and customer service, workplace culture was okay pretty stressful once new management was put into place, hardest part of my job was working on holidays, and trying to multi task while it is very busy, most enjoyable part was working in the mall.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 25 May 2017
typical days work i would organize and stalked shelves. Operated cash register and handled debit/ credit transactions. Assisted customers with merchandise and sizing. What i learned team work and communication are very important. everyone needs to be on the same page in order for the company to grow.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) – Surrey, BC – 20 May 2017
The company is amazing to work for. Amazing merchandise and employers. I enjoyed working for Stitches for the time being that i did. I loved the working with the staff members. They taught me what i needed for the seasonal position i took.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) – Barrie, ON – 10 April 2017
The management was horrible. Many inscidents happened while I was there that ended in dogs losing their life. I was left alone in the back with over 50 dogs on my first week there and got in the middle of a dog fight with two very big dogs. I ended up getting bit.
Retail Manager (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 8 November 2016
A great place to work part-time with a flexible schedual unless you have management skills and a free schedule. Then there is a lot of opportunity to move higher very quickly in a competitive environment.
Fun work place with a great management team and staff.
Sales Associate/ cashier (Former Employee) – Cornwall, ON – 24 August 2016
Coworkers were one of the best parts of this job for me they made the day go so much easier just by how closely we bonded. I loved working the floor as well and being able to greet and chat with different people on a daily basis was a great bonus too.,
Sales Associate (Former Employee) – Windsor, ON – 4 July 2016
Working for Stitches is productive as it is a really fast paced environment. There is always something to do whether it is doing stock, interacting with many customers, or folding/cleaning clothes.
You work with a good/small amount of employees, so you create close relationships with each one. I have realized that there are new managers that come and go regularly due to problems and issues, but majority that I have worked with are nice to be around and they will tell you what needs to get done.
The hours are good if you have high seniority, otherwise new employees get lower hours. One thing I did not like was that most days the store is usually short-staffed for a large environment, so sometimes an employee has to do multiple jobs at once. I feel that managers focus more on tasking (getting things done) rather than presenting excellent customer service for customers.
Overall it was an enjoyable place to work for.
Always busy, nice co-workers, discount benefits.
Short staffed, constantly hiring new managers, store gets messy fast
