Purpose of Position:

To administer the reporting and collection of fees in the Blue Box and MHSW programs ensuring that the process is as seamless, simple and painless as possible for paying stewards.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with customer service staff to ensure that unpaid amounts are identified

and managed according to SO policy, and that management is kept informed of issues
relating to late payments

  • Informs customer service of invoicing/report errors for programs
  • Reviews billings for correctness
  • Calculates billing adjustments as necessary ensuring proper authorizations, approvals and documentation are in place
  • Ensures that penalties and interest rates are kept updated and are in accordance with current rules
  • Works under direction of Controller to prepare timelines and strategies for effective A/R collection
  • Assesses collectability of current accounts
  • Performs bank reconciliations monthly
  • Reconciles payments and completes account analysis
  • Assists with routine communication to customers
  • Investigates steward queries related to invoicing
  • Backup reception duties as needed

  • Liaises with stewards re: invoicing and payments issues

  • Prioritizing work load i.e. month end/quarter end for payments and identifying where additional help might be needed

Job Specification/Skills:

Education

  • 1 -2 years training in accounting in courses eligible as credits toward an accounting designation

Experience

  • 1-2+ years in a small or mid-sized accounting department in A/R or related accounting function

Knowledge

  • Outlook, Microsoft Office
  • General understanding of goals of the accounting function, and the relationship between the roles in the department, with strong, specific knowledge of what is needed to successfully manage A/R.

Working Conditions:

  • Uneven workload, with peak periods at quarter-end, year-end, and during annual audit.
