What would I be responsible for?

  • Perform and accurately document incoming inspections, first article inspections, in-process inspections and field inspections as required on raw materials, components and assemblies
  • Perform daily process audits on production jobs
  • Track parts and heat numbers throughout fabrication
  • Translate Steelcraft and customer technical packages into the necessary Quality documentation
  • Assist the QA Manager in development of weld procedures to satisfy requirements of regulatory bodies and customers, and application of weld procedures to shop floor drawings
  • Assist the QA Manager in maintaining ISO and ASME Quality Manuals
  • Assist in ASME, Customer and ISO audits
  • Assist in the maintenance of measurement equipment
  • Assist in specifying, arranging, attending, and reviewing results from NDE inspections and physical tests on raw materials, components and assemblies as required
  • Collaborate with production on continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead the quality, production and engineering teams in investigations of non-conformances and drive corrective and preventive action activities
  • Other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager

Must Haves

  • A minimum of 5 years of QA/QC or manufacturing experience in an ISO9001 certified environment
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings with a sound knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Demonstrated experience with core quality practices (root cause analysis, GR&R, auditing)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of metrology/inspection tools; experience with calibration systems
  • Practical knowledge & experience in welded pressure vessel fabrication to ASME and European PED standards
  • Practical knowledge & experience in machining and forming processes
  • Practical knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) requirements and methods
  • Result-oriented approach with a demonstrated ability to think analytically and solve problems
  • High regard for accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work proactively and independently as well as an active team participant in a group
  • Ability to interact professionally with both internal and external suppliers/customers
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with short deadlines
  • Proven maturity to effectively handle and prioritize competing demands
  • Flexible and willing to accept new challenges

  • Proficient in PC use including MS Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Ability to travel as required by the position; eligible to hold passport and obtain visas for international travel
  • Meets requirements of Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and U.S. International Traffic in Arms (ITAR)

Nice to Haves

  • ASQ certification as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Technician (CQT), or Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years of QA/QC or manufacturing experience in a pressure vessel fabrication shop
  • Practical knowledge & experience in welded pressure vessel documentation & certification to ASME and European PED standards
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies (ASME, TSSA)
  • Experience with Document Control and MRB systems
  • Experience in organizing and conducting internal and supplier audits
  • Knowledge of pressure vessel design to ASME and European PED codes
  • Experience in development of ASME, European PED, AWS and CSA welding procedures
  • Experience with Lean implementation
  • Experience using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and optical metrology equipment
