Steel Reef is a newly created, well capitalized, privately held, midstream company targeting strategic small- to mid-sized infrastructure investments in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. We have a seasoned, highly skilled management team with a proven track record of technical and financial success in Canadian energy midstream. We are looking to expand our management team with an enterprising and motivated candidate who is ready to join us in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Required Skills & Experience

  • A degree in business or engineering (or equivalent), preferably an MBA
  • A minimum of 7+ years of progressive Business Development experience in the Oil & Gas engineering and/or energy industries
  • Must have relationships within and exposure to the oil & gas midstream sector in Calgary as well as a proven track record in a BD function
  • Experience in developing proposals, involvement in negotiations, experience in legal agreement review and development as well as demonstrated problem solving abilities
  • Persistent, persuasive and sound negotiator with high business acumen
  • Excellent interpersonal and organization skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and present across all levels within the organization and to outside parties
  • Solid technical knowledge of midstream project design, as well as an understanding of general engineering and design principles in order to better clarify company needs
  • Experience in all or some of the following areas: facility and gas plant operations, project management and economics, joint interest and acquisitions, business development, corporate development, analytics, engineering

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identification, qualification, pursuit and capture of all opportunities with the objective of maximizing midstream project investments & revenues
  • Originate, develop and implement capital investments projects; manage resulting projects from initial conception to implementation
  • Lead the ongoing commercial development, management and optimization of midstream assets owned by the company
  • Create and maintain an active prospecting strategy to attract new clients
  • Provide early and insightful analysis on potential commercial projects
  • Assist in the preparation, submission and execution of midstream proposals and agreements
  • Update and maintain Business Development Strategy based on market conditions, client requirements, target project scopes and internal capabilities
  • Actively gather and share relevant market intelligence with respect to general industry and competitor developments
  • Develop, maintain and nurture midstream relationships with oil and gas partners
