Staples, Inc. is the #2 E-commerce business in sales volume in the North America and also operates in an addition 24 countries in Europe, South America, Asia and Australia. In support of these businesses, a Staples Global E-commerce Center has been established with the following objectives:
- Driving faster, bolder innovation through a strategic and coordinated approach across e-commerce businesses across the globe, specifically:
o Strategy and innovation
o Technology and e-commerce platform decisions, jointly with IT
o Website feature and functionality roadmaps
- Ensuring consistent excellence in multi-channel online user experience across all businesses and markets
- Continuously extending proven site optimization approaches across SBUs to drive incremental sales & profit on a global basis
The Onsite Search Analyst, Staples Advantage Canada will join the Global Site Optimization team within the Global E-Commerce Center and be responsible for helping to drive insights from onsite search behavioral and conversion data of which will be used to improve onsite search results, customer satisfaction and onsite conversion. This position requires strong technical/analytical skills to be able to mine large quantities of data and pull out valuable insights focused at improving our onsite search results. This position will be interacting will a lot of members in the Staples Advantage organization and share best practices with Search Analysts in other Business Units on how to drive revenue, margin and an enhanced search experience with the Staples Inc. onsite search tool. This role will be based at SA Canada’s headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario.
Generate and distribute ongoing reporting and analysis about the onsite search program. Develop insightful recommendation based on clear and concise findings to the merchandising team allowing them to improve search results and revenue within their category.
Manage the onsite search tool through rule sets to improve search results based on input from the merchants as well as insights from the onsite search analysis.
Develop action plans resulting from analysis of onsite search performance for merchandising with regards to site content and category hierarchy optimization. Work with the merchandising team to implement changes for optimization. Measure search improvements through SiteCatalyst.
Identify opportunities for improvement and implement Staples best practices by working closely with other members of the Search team and with the Site Optimization Channel Manager – SA Canada.
Identify onsite search bugs and opportunities for improvement and partner with Search Product Manager on making those changes
Collaborate with all areas of Staples Advantage Canada to ensure optimal results from our onsite search engine.
This individual / position will be interacting with and helping to inform members of the SA Canada organization of steps that can be taken to return the best onsite search results after mining the data and pulling out valuable insights.
This individual / position will also need to be able to communicate and effectively interact with our Search Product Manager in order to make the necessary enhancements to our onsite search tool.
Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills
Onsite search tool experience or SEO/SEM experience
Web Analytics knowledge and experience using SiteCatalyst, CoreMetrics, WebTrends or other industry standard web analytics tools
High motivation and enthusiastic for making a positive impact to the company
Demonstrated strong proficiency in Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Bachelor’s degree required
2 to 4 prior related work experience required
