A good place to work
Senior Instrumentation Engineer (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB19 January 2017
The best part was the encouragement of physical exercise through annual physical/bio check and mobile activity pedometer.
I wasn't very active before. However, with the daily exercise I started to run and even finished a 10km racing which was not possible to me at all.
Pros
Good management
Cons
Shortage of work due to the low oil price strike to Alberta oil sand industry

Senior Project Manager (Current Employee) –  Alberta10 January 2017
Culture is very relaxed. The biggest surprise is how such a large organization is really just a bunch of independent business units with fragmented systems, procedures and management styles. Stantec has grown through numerous acquisitions. Company lacks solid project management systems/tools but they are in the process of implementing something. It really comes down to individual employees and whether you can collaborate with them. Hardest part of the job for a PM is being responsible for everything and having little control over things like functional teams, quality of product, lack of systems and enforcement of policies. The managers and business developers seem to have the most fun as they are not having to deal with lack of systems to get the job done.
Pros
Relaxed work environment, flexible work hours.
Cons
Lacking formal systems and procedures.

Knowledgeable, experienced, friendly people highlight this nice place to work
Senior Pipeline Engineer (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB8 November 2016
Fairly easy-going laid-back atmosphere in which to work. They provide everything you need to do the tasks you're assigned, plus a number of perks in the office (fancy coffee machines, gym, nice lunchrooms, computers/smart-boards in the meeting rooms, etc.).

The people are always willing to help, and generally very friendly and approachable.
Pros
Depth and breadth of knowledge and experience
Cons
Difficulty scaling down processes for smaller projects

Worked in open atmosphere with all staff. Many branches and offices throughout NA for great opportunities everywhere.

-Improper systems in place lacking control
-Good work life balance
-Decent benefits
-Pay is not good or bad, slightly below average
-Poor Management in place, do not know how to coach and mentor employees

Electrical project engineer (Current Employee) –  Montréal, QC17 July 2016
My 4 years at Stantec - from September 2012 to september 2016 have been very rewarding. I worked with a team of dedicated professional, always available to share their passion and knowledge. It was an overall great first professional experience. I had the opportunity to develop many skills, in parallel to be trained as project engineer and introduced to business development. Stantec offered me many opportunities I sized.
