CTH Gym Monitor (Current Employee) – Calgary, AB – 6 January 2014
A typical day at work would be to come in and make sure that the gym is clean, if something needs to be tidied up then I have to clean it up. Once the students and staff start coming in I great everyone that walks in. If there are new students to the facility I have to get them to sign a waiver form, and register them on the sign in sheet. I also let my superiors know if something needs to be fixed or replaced. I mainly work alone during my shift, but I see my co-workers come in for a workout and I usually chit chat with them for a little bit. I also have to input data into our computer for my superiors using excel. The most enjoyable part of my job is that I get to workout during my shift, it helps make it a more enjoyable job to work. Having the opportunity to include fitness in my daily schedule is a great asset.
Adjunct Associate Professor Human Kinetics (Former Employee) – Calgary, AB – 3 May 2012
The university has good intentions, but is a small university. Most of the faculty is part-time and the salary is below other universitys for sessional professors. The support is there though - limited direction but progressive. Small class sizes which is fantastic for teaching - students are great!
