Working as scheduler, having to cover sick calls, which entailed calling staff into work, sometimes at the last minute, covering any open shifts, vacations, etc. and adding to payroll. I learned to be detail oriented and to record in more than one place. Management was easy to work with, I felt very supported. The staff were fairly reasonable and has admitted that I was really fair and the best person for the job! The hardest part of the job was trying to cover staff at the last minute. It was very difficult at times, and always seemed to be the same people that would agree to come into work, but had to follow union agreement rules on the process of calling staff. The most enjoyable part of the job is really getting to know the staff, and having them come to you with questions and/or complaints as they feel you will treat them fairly and honestly.
Getting to know the staff, the trust and confidence bestowed upon you.
When no one would want to come to work or answer the phone when calling out, Sometimes having to go through the same list 2-4 times in a row for different shifts!
