Headquartered in Pemberton, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) is a local government federation located in southwestern BC consisting of 4 member municipalities (Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, Lillooet) and 4 electoral areas. The region contains some of the most spectacular forests, waterways, and mountains in the province and affords an endless range of opportunities for outdoor adventure.
The SLRD is seeking to fill the position of Recreation Services Manager for Pemberton and District (Area C) recreation services. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Recreation Services Manager will supervise a department of approximately 15 staff (9 FTEs) and will be responsible for:
- Efficient management of the Pemberton and District Recreation Service (facilities, programming and services, policy development, planning and contract management, etc.);
- Management and development of recreation services budgets; and
- Encouragement and support of the community in the enjoyment of leisure services in consultation and cooperation with community groups and users.
We are seeking a creative and knowledgeable individual who possesses strong managerial skills and the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with various stakeholders. The successful candidate will have superior communication skills, a proven ability to work within deadlines, and experience in recreation program development and delivery, facility management and financial management. As a team player, the Recreation Services Manager must be able to work effectively with community organizations and co-workers, demonstrating exemplary customer service and interpersonal skills.
The ideal candidate should have a degree or diploma in Recreation Programming and Management and 3-5 years related work experience in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience working within a Regional District or Municipal organization is a definite asset.
Compensation will be determined commensurate with knowledge, skills and ability, and includes a comprehensive benefit package and Municipal Pension Plan.
