A workplace that you can always learn from
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee), Ottawa, Ontario – May 18, 2013
A typical day at work for me would include a lot of team work with the other staff members, trying to make the customers' experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Over the past three years, I've learned so much from this company but I think what stands out the most is how I've learned to handle customers who may have been dissatisfied and trying – more... to help in the situation as best as I can. This is also the hardest part of my job.

I truly believe the most enjoyable part of my job is the fact that all of our staff members get along really well. We try to keep each other happy so that we can keep the customers happy. – less

Pros: very fun and friendly staff
Cons: not enough hours
On a typical day at work i would start by unloading shipments and sorting them out to be placed on the floor or put in storage. I would also be on the floor helping customers when the store is busy. I spent a lot of time cleaning ex, sweeping , moping etc.

Stock 'N Serve
Sales Associate (Former Employee), North Bay, ON – March 5, 2013
Most of work at SportChek was stocking product, assisting customers, and cleaning the store. That about sums it up. My favourite part was working in the footwear department. It always almost always busy, and if they hadn't scrapped commission before I was hired I would have made a good few dollars back there. Part-time at minimum wage was what it was – more... but employees get a decent discount on product. I liked that they would train their employees on the new products at least twice a year. Also, it is easy to make friends with co-workers. – less

SportChek
Soft Goods Associate (Former Employee), Mississauga, ON – February 1, 2013
Pros: great co-workers
Cons: not enough hours.
I got the oppurtunity to work at SportChek as part of my school coop program. It was a great way for me to meet new people and gain some independence. I learned how to deal with many customers at the same time. I was incharge of 3 departments women's, men's and juniors clothing. I was able to balance every department and remeber every item in each area. – more... The hardest part and also the part I enjoyed the most was helping a customer to find a product that best suits their need. I tried to understand them in a very short amount of time. To help them pick out what was best for them. I enjoyed that alot. I learned alot and I had alot of responsibilities which made me a hard worker. I love working with others and enjoy retail. I'm a people person and I love to try new oppurinities. – less

Pros: working with sports stuff
Achieve and maintain the sales goal per day. I enjoy sports a lot so a benefit is helping people pick the best sporting equipment for themselves. It was fun to meet and greet customers and help them with their sporting needs.

Very easy going but educational environment. Fun and challenging
Marketing Assistant (Former Employee), Surrey, BC – January 21, 2013
Pros: very easy going place to work
I was a student with almost no experience and Sportchek was great for me. I did many different jobs and all were fun and rewarding. I learned a lot about retail and what it is like to work in a fast paced environment. The management was great and all of the people that worked there were awesome. It was sometimes hard learning to do a new job but in – more... time everything became easy to do. I enjoyed working with a group of people and team projects were always the best. It was a great experience. – less

Sales Associate/Technician (Current Employee), Ottawa, ON – September 5, 2012
If the managers are in a good mood then your day will be good. The training is above average for retail so you feel comfortable talking to customers about each product. Co-workers are great and a joy to work with.

Fun workplace, great atmosphere
Sales Representative (Former Employee), Oakville, Ontario – August 21, 2012
Pros: great hours.
Cons: not as many hours as i would have liked.
I was a sales representative in the clothing and foot ware section. I really enjoyed the staff and meeting new people every day. My manager was very understanding and flexible with hours and availability. I learnt the different typed of customers I could potentially have, as some were extremely nice and polite and others would be hard to talk to.

Fun and Enjoyable workplace
Clothing Associate (Former Employee), Calgary, AB – July 24, 2012
Pros: was a fun place to work
Cons: not a lot of benifits
As a clothing associate at sportchek you would, make sure all the clothes are correctly hung, lined up and colour co-ordinated. Clean every inch of the store and help every customer as good as you possibly could. What I learned was that every customer wants something different and that its important to help them and not just to sell to them. Every customer – more... is a valued customer. Computer skills, how to close cash, and open cash. Specific qualities and pros about different kind of material. Benifits of different shoes, and what they can or can't do for your feet. How to stock a back room. Managment was good, fair and fun to work with. Co-workers were helpful and tried their best as well. Hardest part of the job was setting up new product tables, when a lot of the time we didn't have a lot of the product, so I had to improvise. Most enjoyable, learning all the new things about certain types of clothing and shoes. – less

Cashier (Current Employee), Sherwood Park, AB – July 24, 2012
Pros: fun people, discount
Cons: always on your feet
It is a very fun place to work, you learn many new skills that will help you throughout your life. The managers are very nice and easy to get along with, if you ever have a problem they will try there best to help you. The hardest part about the job is to deal with customers that are not pleased with the products or the service but we try our best to – more... please the customer and help make their experience at Sportchek pleasant – less

Fun and enjoyable workplace
Hardgoods/Footwear Sales Associate (Current Employee), Calgary, AB – June 28, 2012
Working at SportChek has been a really good learning experience for me and gave me the potential to grow into the hard worker I am today. I enjoy the challenge the job brings and everyday is different allowing you to learn new things and meet new people.

I used to work in the footwear department for the last 4 years advising and selling technical footwear. – more... While in footwear I managed the footwear day-to-day operations by delegating tasks to co-workers while being instructed by my footwear department manager. I have shown to have a strong work ethic, excellent time management and decision-making skills, strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to a changing environment.

Just a month or 2 ago I was moved into the hardgoods department of the store and now advise and sell sporting equiptment. There was a lot to learn in a short period of time but I made a nice smooth transition into the department. Since being in hardgoods I have carried over skills and work ethic that I used in footwear and have made the hardgoods department more organized. I have also learned a few things in our tech shop, like building bicycles and sharpening skates. – less

Great team to be apart of
Footwear Customer service Representative (Current Employee), Pickering, ON – May 24, 2012
For footwear the work is simple: help customers, give extensive product knowledge, provide customer with best shoes suited towards their needs, clean and maintain the image of the footwear department, change display signage as per instructed from head office emails.

The team that Sportchek has is amazing, everybody is really kind and goal driven.the – more... hardest part of that job is that there is no hard part of the job.

the most enjoyable thing working at Sportchek is dealing with the public – less
